    Same here. At least I've never noticed. We have hundreds of these trees from a few inches tall to over 20' tall all over our woods.

    Hasn't been in about 40 plus years. But yes it was the main ingredient in root beer.

    Large quantities will inhibit important liver enzymes and has been proven to cause cancer in lab rats. So make sure if you use it you do so in moderation.

    And if you eat too much of it.. you get the squirts... my grandma told me the indians used to chew on it... next thing I know.... MUD!!!!!!!!!!

    The Sassafras tree is a source of food and provides medicinal benefit as well.
    Providing botanical, folk-lore and herbal information, plus organic herbs, and herbal products.

    My woods are full of these trees but I've never seen these flowers.
