  • Post SHTF Herbal Medicine

Hi all, I'm new here. I'm an herbalist and a prepper. I teach classes and do my best to help others see though the "mysticism" that surrounds herbal medicine and be able to apply it knowledgeably and without fear. I was excited to find this forum but I see posts about this forum not being around for much longer? Just checking before investing a lot of time.
    Thanks!

Hey Desert. No one knows for sure yet about the sites status. some said it was going away 01MAR but as you see it's still here. Now they're saying first of April... So who knows. The owner/ admin is no where to be found and the last of our moderators isn't around much, he'd lost his home in the fires this summer in CA and I'm sure has other things taking his time.

I for one look forward to you sharing your knowledge and helping to school us. In case this site does go away, many of us are joining over at www.mysurvivalforum.com
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you!

We live in a modern medical age. To solve medical problems today we take pills (Chemicals) and (Antibiotics). Without both we will most likely die. May be from a cut on the hand drinking bad water. But it will happen and there is no 911 to call. What to do.

      1. Training via classes (Red Cross) in first aid and preppers medical training on-line or by manuals. Never stop training!

      2. Gain experience while you can practice on treating different levels of treatments. Learn to use a tourniquet, take blood pressure, even take a temperature.

      3. Purchase equipment and supplies. I have found many ways around buying the normal items. Like fish antibiotics which are the same as we take, and can be purchased on-line. I found a complete surgery kit for less then $25.00 by going to medical school supply companies and find their sale sections.

Do these three things and you will be as ready as any of us.

      Well this is a start.

I'm someone who is relying in herbal medicine in daily basis. Although I'm pretty sure the type of herbal medicine I've consume routinely are definitely far different than what your accustomed to.

Where I come herbal medicine is base upon thousand years old tradition & practices.

As a fellow herbalist, I am highly interested in herbal traditions around the globe. Could you expand on your comment a bit more, Varuna?

First of all, I apologize for taking so long to reply, I kind of forgot about this post

            The herbal medicine I've consumed are called "Jamu". The term itself is more of an umbrella term that covered the entire practice & tradition of holistic approach. However, I'm just a regular consumer of it. Basically these days Jamu is a mix of home / cottage industry and modern / pharma industry products, however they still distributed (sold) by traditional mean such as these ;

            Traditional Jamu vendor
this is a more "dramatized" version of course

I'm currently consumed Jamu for treating rheumatic and bloating

Here is a video of making Jamu for anti-inflammatory

Turmeric! I love the stuff, and will make that drink for sure. Thanks for the video, Varuna.
