Marlin 30-30. I use the stock sites. No optics for this particular rifle. I love this rifle.

I used to hunt with a Mauser 30.06 but since they have forced the wolves on us it really isn't worth hunting around here for deer, elk or moose the only thing left to hunt are wolves.

Ruger M77 270. I have taken deer with many different guns. Not much of a bow hunter, don't have the time it takes for practice. I carried my Ruger Super Blackhawk for years until it was stolen.

During archery season I use my Hoyt compound, muzzloader season I use my Knight LK-93 wolverine inline .50 cal., for firearms season if I'm in rifle country I use my Remington 700 BDL L.A. 30-06, or if I'm hunting heavily wooded areas my Winchester lever action 94AE 30-30, or my Armalite AR-10 semi in .308. If I'm hunting in an area restricted to shotguns and muzzleloaders I use my trusty old Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel, or the above mentioned Knight muzzleloader.

I use my Keltec Pf9, rechambered to 356 TSW, with solid copper hp's, 45 grs at 2200 fps. I simply use bait and tree stands to get lots of standing, broadside lung shots, at 20 yds and less, just like bowhunters do. I have yet to have one make it out of sight before it fell, for a total of 7 such deer.

My old Bear re-curves (1953, 1958) and a Newer model PSE. Also, my lucky One-shot kill arrow.
It's just a hobby. I am pretty confident, I could kill big game size targets (and have) at 50m. if it hit the fan, I'd pick up a rifle. Also, having permission to hunt Ft. Benning helps a lot too! lololLast edited by Buggyout; 04-05-2012, 07:00 PM.

I prefer my Matthews Switchback; however, when using a rifle for deer I use a .308. Mama packs her 30.06 and my son sports a 7mm-08. From time to time I have taken out a .218B. I pretty much hunt the same with a rifle as I do with a bow so the majority of my shots have been under a 100 yards. It wasn't until I was stationed in Montana that I took my first hunting shot over 100 yards.
