  • Reflectix Insulation

I was using this to insulate our dog house and was carrying it with my forearm inside a loose coil. All of a sudden I felt my forearm getting VERY WARM, VERY QUICKLY.

So I stopped working on the dog house and got to thinking. After doing a little research on-line I found out how amazing this stuff really is for the outdoorsman. You can make pot cozies out of it to keep your pots warm and create a simmer effect, but it will also insulate your water bottles in the cold.

I even cut some out to fit in the bottom of my winter boots and believe me my feet got warm. After feeling that I cut a piece out to fit under the bottom of my sleeping bag between the pad and the bag. This stuff works, you could even put in in the bottom of your bag I suppose.

It has a shiny foil on both sides and has a air pocketed bubble wrap between those layers, while also acting as a thin cushion.

This insulation is not what I would call expensive, it goes a long ways, won't rot, can be found in just about any farm or hardware store, it's VERY LIGHT and comes in 3-4 different sizes I believe.

    Give it a try!

Good stuff, I used it on my chicken coop and dog house but never thought of making pot warmers and things.. Thinks for the info.

We used it to go under the mattresses in our pop up camper and it made a huge difference on how warm we stayed in the fall.

I am going to make the pot cozies. I love the Maddy the Goose channel on youtube. This guy makes outdoors look easy as he solo paddles the algoquin wilderness in his canoe with his dog and portages 19 different lakes.

He uses the cozies made from this insulation. I would take whatever this guy does as gospel.
