I find as I get older, one of the first things that I pack, is a magnifying glass, not just for starting fires on a sunny day but for map reading also.

I had cataract surgery. Although, my eyes work quite well for everything except reading where I require reading glasses. As the glasses are "focused" for one distance; I need to use a magnifying glass for small print often. As a result, I have a small one in my pocket.
