for the alone show who dont DARE not take a ferrorod, saw, sleeping bag. Obviously, billions of people survived without such items, in much worse conditions, for lifetimes. Several pussies have quit over merely losing their ferrorod or burning it up in the fire. Inabiity to acquire adequate food leads to making bad choices. HUGE lake right there, full of easily-caught big fish and nobody knows how to do it. If you caught/shot every small animal on your allotted 2.5 sq miles of land, it would not feed you properly for a month. Every last one of the survival manuals says 'fish first' when it comes to foraging for food. 250 ft of paracord can have its outer "skin' removed and the 7 inner strands accessed, but that's just 1750 ft of such strands. you need 9 ft of cordage for every sq ft of 3" mesh netting. So you can make less than 200 sq ft of such netting out of the paracord and that's IF the outer skin serves to fulfill all of your camp needs for cordage. You can make 1800 sq ft of such netting out of the cotton rope hammock, so WHY does nobody do so? I've been telling everyone about it for 4 years now. They'd rather LOSE their way than WIN my way! it's retarded.

you're dead wrong. 500 sq ft of 2" mesh netting will feed you ever day, no problem and then be a hammock when you dont need the food. If there's even a half assed sized body of water, netting is by far the most likely way to get food. It works for you 24-7 and fish are stupid, very limited in how far they can/will move, easily baited, etc.

you need calories to keep checking those traps twice a day. If you dont check them that often, something else will have eaten your catch. Trapping is not free calories. Net fishing is FAR more likely to produce. You're STUCK in a 1.2 mile radius of your dropoff location on the Alone show. The further you travel to check your traps, the more calories you burn doing so. They are supposedly not allowed to use baited traps, but I"d do so anyway. Nobody's ever going to know. You COULD just use poles and brush to force big animals to go thru areas where youve set cable-snares as foot-catches making them out of 8 strands of the 20 ga snare wire, rigging them to 150 lbs of drag log.. You can also rig springpole jungle whips vertically, driving a stake into the backs of their heads or spines.

anyone who "thinks" that a few traps are going to feed them is quite ignorant of the facts. Jordan set and checked daily 100 snares to score 28 rabbits in 20 days, and some of those rabbits he shot with his bow. A large snowshoe hare offers just 700 calories Active all day in the cold, you'd need to average eating 5 hares per day. Not all of them will be large males.

that show is, I bet you watch others too, you seem to base all your comments on tv shows.
you seem to be using this forum as your own personal blog and ignoring any opposing views that may be posted, probably why there only seems to be you and I posting.
I do not plan my survival on films and other fiction, when TSHTF I know what to do because I have lived like that before and will again.Last edited by grumpygremlin; 05-03-2021, 04:47 AM.

Give it up Gun Kid, it is a TV program designed for entertainment only! The is no "reality" in it at all due to the stringent rules the contestants have to follow. In a real situation if the participants were free to bring what ever they required and there were no limitations on hunting or movement results would be vastly different.

While this Alone Show pap is new material he generally recycles the same information from forum to forum. Over the last 20 some years off and on when not in the crossbar hotel run via the club Fed chain gang of last resorts.
As a 3 maybe 4:time convicted federal felon he's forbidden by US law from owning firearms and his various self proclaimed disabilities keep him from being mobile to really put much of it into real use like overnight. If he's done anything it's mostly been on a 4-6hr "FTX" in his backyard or local forest preserve.
He may shoot some but that will be with illegally obtained firearms acquired by straw purchases.
I don't have anything personally against him and on occasion he'll come up with a good idea or find a product online that's useful to some.
But some of his claims being untested, at least not in a decent manor and unknown to a newbie could be fatal.
