I think that would be great. With enough advance notice I could make sure I'm off.

I didn't vote yet because I'm not sure of the details.
        Motel or camping?
I can handle the cold but cold and wet is no fun camping.

Motels are expensive and I'm cheap.

Private land, state park, or campground?

I feel confident the chances are very good that I would come,
I wouldn't be sure on the overnighter until a few nights before the event.

Great idea, I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds good. I'm game if it's not wet.
Bad memories of wet camping trips ;)

I probably couldn't do an overnight with my work schedule but i'm sure i can come for a day. I would be glad to get everything together to do tin foil lunches if everyone would like to do that. I'll also show you how to do omelets in a bag for the next mornings breakfast.

I'm interested. I could probably do an over niter if it can be planned far enough out in advance. How about a schedule of events. I'd like to get as much out of the short time we'll be together. Is this going to be a class oriented get together or more of a meet and greet or both ??

I could probably do an overnighter as long as it wasn't a Saturday/Sunday deal. If it was, I could come for Saturday and head back to the homestead late that evening.

Count me in! I'd prefer a simple overnight camp, hike-in or drive-in, as a meet and greet.
I've done a few of these with online groups of other interests, and if you try to plan too much formal stuff for the first meet it always becomes a social event rather than an educational event. Folks just getting to know each other. Nothing wrong with that, it just kinda blows away the educational part.
Just a suggestion, but I think the first get together should be just that. Get together, get to know each other, and have a good time. Best done on neutral ground, and with minor rules that everyone knows about up front (ok...this sounds like a "swinger" party but I assure you that I've never been to one, and have no plans to!:).
                          From experience....
                          Are alcoholic beverages allowed?
If so, make it known that this is not a drunk-fest.
Is it ok to have open use or recreational herb? No?...how about if we just take a walk away from the "group"? (make the rule!...yes/no/maybe)
                          Are minor children allowed?
If so, make it known, and use a language rule that is appropriate for children.
This also applies to t-shirt "logos" that may not be appropriate for children.
Simple, common sense rules, stated up front, can make or break the weekend when folks of all different walks of life get together for the first time.
I've seen these things go great...where lifelong friendships are made...and I've seen them go bad...where folks didn't know what they were getting themselves into, or didn't know what to expect...but came anyway. Let's face it...couples with children don't always see eye to eye with couples that don't have children.
I'm not the gathering "nazi" I'd just like to see this first gathering go so well that we can't wait for the next one!

                            Folks,

I am open for either a day meeting or an overnight meeting at the end of March in a nearby area. Just give a specific day and time so I can ask for the time off.

I rarely drink, so an alky-free gathering is fine by me.

I don't smoke, I don't chew, and I don't kiss the girls what do, so a smoke-free/"herb-free" gathering is fine by me too. (Besides, as long as there is a "War On Drugs" on, armed neutrality is the best stance to take, i.e. don't narc, but don't partake either.)

I have no clothes that are unfit for reading, albeit they might be unfit for wearing.

I am Childfree By Choice, but I am not anti-child or anti-couples with well-behaved children.

So, basically, I am game for getting together. Just say the word on the time, date, location, and what's going on and I'll get ready.

There will be firm rules for safety and legality which will be leo enforced starting with absolutely no drugs.
