All present and accounted for (so far) in Gastonia, NC. I spend a fair amount of time in Lincoln County, NC and Catawba County, NC on my off days, so I could also meet with others in these Counties as well."Apocalypse is by no means inevitable." --Jim Rice.

Add another one for NC... Specifically Lincoln County, but work Burke,Catawba,Caldwell, Avery,Mitchell and the surrounding areas.
Ronald, I have heard about the range @ the former bowling alley but not the status of it. Didn't know about the one in Cherryville, like that town better anyway! Let me know if you hear anything further about these! TIA73

BTW thanks for commenting on the blog. I often wonder if anyone ever reads it, but refuse to put a hit counter with ads on it. Like all blog writers, I have spurts of inspiration followed by MONTHS of drought!!!:D73

Zombie, Ive driven by there several times and it doesnt look like it will be anytime soon. From what i have heard their are alot of permits needed, ventilation needs to be installed and a backstop will have to be contructed. However their will be a shop and gunsmith also.
As for Cherryville i spoke with one of the guys up there (Jason i think) and he said they were looking into it. I guess i'll still be going to springs road, shooters express or my wifes grandmothers place out in west lincoln untill then.Acta non verba

Stanly County here. I would like to see this roll call thing go further. For example; where are the different places that we could bug out to and what would each be bringing to the table. Yeah it;s something that has been mentioned before...
And really to prep it right, it would need to be a personally owned peiece of property with water running through it, within an hour to an hour and half of each of us.
I dunno if it's feasbile or not, could potentially be managed by Xcolony... but not sure I want to get involved like that... Open for discussionWHAT IF THE AMERICA YOU KNEW, WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE?

A trust is the way to go IMHO...
Fortunately, I learned from a former group I was a member of, why you don't want to make a retreat of a personal retreat/homestead. One team member lost his job and figured it was time to bug out to this fellars home/retreat. The landowner didn't mind a team member staying for a short while, but when the fellar never left after 3 months (from lack of attempting to even find a job) it left the homeowner/landowner with a sour taste in his mouth. I cannot blame him, but shortly after he removed the jobless team member and camping trailer, the group disbanded
When I secured property of my own, with the lessons of the past still in my mind, I decided that my location would not become a team's retreat but my refuge. Now, I do have agreements with several prep minded friends and eventually my homestead may TURN into a group retreat, but that is not plan 'A'.
I would like to see something worked out between the members of Xcolony where there will be some sort of team/group, but IME these things take time and a whole lotta trust:)
Who knows???73

I agree with all that was said above and I really hate hearing about the team member that took advantage of someone else's property. The trust thing is a HUGE issue. My thought is that there may be no perfect bug out destination. Under some circumstances, my place might be the best, under other circumstances, someone else's place. In other words, we would all have plans A, B, C, and D. Again, everyone must bring something to the table. Extra food, ammo, supplies, skills..whatever. But again...as stated above. How do you overcome the trust issue? It could be that in these (last....I believe) days we may have to force ourselves to trust a little more than we would like. Of course, not without due wisdom, common sence, and the proper questions asked. I'm not even sure what those would be at this juncture. Just some things to consider. I would be willing to do my best to meet anyone that wanted to meet and discuss this matter. Lots and lots of questions. How easy is a place to defend? What are the threats for a given area? How easy/difficult is access? etc. etc.
OK
getting off soapbox now and taking deep breaths...

Well let's start the discussion with this.
At said location, whether it be 5 acres or 50 acres.
How many Xcolony members would we limit it to.
Would this be a 5 member team/partnership
