"there is ZERO wrong with learning disaster preparedness, long term food storage, planning, bushcraft and wilderness skills we have many law enforcement agents, federal agents, dod, homeland on this site, and we are glad to have them. If you want kookey weird cult tin foil crap you've got the wrong site. What is there to collect? "

No, I agree with you Diesel. Nothing wrong with it at all. It's just that there are still people, media, etc...that think people like us are "crazy" or a "threat" or whatever other label they throw at us. Not that I care what they really think, better for us to be prepared and take care of ourselves and our families when the time comes.

Sorry--didn't mean to come off as trying to discourage such a gathering or come off as a paranoid conspiracy type of guy...just me indulging in imagination I guess...really wish I could make it.

I think this sounds like a good idea but, I have to work in October and it is deer season, and I would want to bring my kids. On top of that it would be a 3 day drive each way for me and cost me about $600 in gas round trip on top of the $150 per person to get in. If it was during the summer and a little cheaper I could probably make it. I like the idea of a regional survival con and it would be much more affordable if it is possible. I wish I could make it but, it doesn't look good this year. Sorry.

Oh yeah... deer season is relevant to me because I am a hunting guide.

Well, it's about a 7 hour drive for me and I am IN!!!!! I'd love to meet up with like minded folks.
I kinda figure that we're all on somebodies list somewhere so who cares! LOL No Tin Foil for me!
                  I'll be watching for details!
I will have to bring my dog as there is no one to watch over him. He is trained by ME and a very good boy!
Thanks for doing this Diesel, this should be a great time!

Oh ETA: I'm in Central IL and if anyone wants to share the gas load that'd be fine with me. I have a car that is great on gas!
Your opponet got stronger today, did you?

I want to start out by saying this is a GREAT IDEA! However, I think it would be very beneficial to forum members to have regional events thought about for future SurvivalCons. It could then be rotated from year to year, and through out certain states bringing it closer to everyone, in turn getting alot more people involved.

As for guns I agree with them having to be locked in vehicles, but also unloaded and cased within the vehicle.

In regards to ages of those attending I would like to see the age set a little lower at 18. Any younger I think could cause problems. Maybe if we would have rotating, regional SurvivalCons in the future one of the events could be set-up for an under 18 crowd with adult supervision.

I have mixed feelings on drinking though and think this should be looked at a little closer. I have nothing against drinking, but due to the fact that there will be so many strangers there and firearms within reach of a vehicle it could still pose a bad situation.

I would say one or the other should be left out, my choice would be alcohol.

Just my imput and concerns because I think this is a great idea and I would want to see it turn out to be an enjoyable time for all involved and a great success for the organizers and the forum as a whole!

If a Regional SurvivalCon could be considered for the future I could host one in my neck of the woods in 2012/2013.

look my friend, the logistics are incredible. I tried gun and militaria show organization in the late 80's and early 90's. I made some money and I broke even on occasion. I had a lot of responses and sometimes not so much. I rented halls and facilities. I did flyers and phone calls.......... It can be done but it is serious work. I would entertain my experience and contacts to help if you ask and contact me personally.. been ther done that.... really have......

This sounds great to me. Maybe I could meet up with Arak and some of the other Texan members and drive/fly together. That might make for an even more informational and enjoyable trip. If I'm still kicking up dust and can make it, it would just be me.
