New forum sections ** please read

Thinking about adding a few new forum sections and trying to divide up the forum a little better.

Topics or sections being considered are

Urban Survival

Every Day Carry


To me there is a quite a difference between bugging in, and urban survival vs. wilderness survival.. yet at the same time alot of the topics overlap and could confuse people as what to post where.. what are your thoughts on this, would the forum be better organized and deserve these new sections and truly get utilized, or would it be just more clutter?

If there was an urban section what kind of topics would you be posting about, do you have posts in mind already?


Also would you like an every day carry section to specifically discuss every day carry items like watches, knives, multitools, first aid, electronics, and what ever other creative items you every day carry or again is this overlap from some of our other sections

Good ideas on both new sections. Maybe I missed it but a bushcraft section. And maybe a herbal natural medicine section. Just my 2 cents thanks for listening.

How many would utilize a dedicated camping/hiking section to talk about locations, experiences, post pics, talk about standard camping gear etc

or is this too much overlap to general prep, gear etc

Still very new, and working my way around, BUT a dedicated natural herbs, with pics, forum would be great, as well as the camping/hiking section! May have missed it, so sorry if I have, but is there a gardening forum, with info on composting, and raising small animals, rain barrels etc? Again, sorry if I missed it!

I don't know about the urban thing... I realize it's a different mindset, but I don't know if it's enough to fill a dedicated section... But then, I know little about urban survival anyway.
I'm stoked about a camping section.... That way I won't be dumping my swamp pictures all over the general chat.
I agree with Skyowls wife, we could use a "naturalist" medicinal area.

The Gear forum already had 2 threads on BOBs, 1 on EDC and 1 on INCH. I don't think we can handle more of them. I think the Urban Survival thread would be good. How to survive in the urdan environment vice heading for the hills. It could include things like...

a. Water retreval and storage
b. Growing food
c. Power generation
d. Protection. Self and domicle

Just to name a few. I tend to concentrate on Urban Survival as we do not plan to head for the hills.

.... Herbal meds and bush craft projects. If we stay focused on the wilderness stuff the Urbanites may realize their error and relocate.

Do you think we should have a new MAIN section for recreational camping, hiking, locations, etc

And a separate section WILDERNESS for Bushcraft, natural medicine?

what else would you put under those main sections?

I think the bushcraft natural / herbal medicine should be a seperate section . I know will be active in that one.
Other ideas for subsections in bushcraft/ natural medicine section could be...
Plant id
Primitive fire.
Hide and pelt working
Trapping
A sticks and stones section of just that things to make and do with sticks and stones.
