Whelp, there were so many high scorers in the group (5), that the top shot competition just wrapped up this afternoon.....everyone passed....I took third in top shot, Dam' took fifth....his pistol marksmanship is great, but not superior, like his rifle....My rifle has improved dramatically since I started playing with actual tack drivers, earning me an expert marksman cert in both pistol and rifle....The guy who took top shot was offered a free enrollment for next Spring's shoot....the rest of us have to pay the $200 course fee....heepsafun, if you ask me, and no NRA membership necessary.....

Repeat of day one for pistolquals.....390/400 aggregate range and combat....We had a former CIA guy-turned Air Marshal guest shoot today...the guy was pretty good....not SUPER accurate, but blazin' fast....he shot 330/400 aggregate for his exhibition....I think I'm in 2nd, behind a dude who shot 399/400....the only reason the guy missed perfect was the scorekeeper standing next to him at the range farted godzilla-style just as he was squeezing off his second shot and nobody could quit laughing long enough to get a shot off.....helluva good day.....

Wellllll....after scoring, I did hit the practice range and blew 9/10 into center mass at the 700 mark, shooting 115gr Hornadys.....my first shot was a bit high and right, striking upper left shoulder.....not bad for a guy who's always been a MG/Shotgun slinger....

Tomorrow I get to put the P89DC through tweak 'n' peak and a prelim, and bone up on my mag-jackin'....pistol will be a breeze....

I am a f*ckin' ANIMAL!!! Straight 40s across the board......practicals felt perfect, and now I'm in the running w/Dam' and two others (so far) for the "Top Shot" round Sunday afternoon......BIG thanks to my spotter (Dam') for calling the shots.....and for helping me tune my rig for the shoot.....

    Onward to pistol....

Fer sure....Dam's actually been coaching me at the home range and givin'me pointers....he's a baddass spotter, too, so I'll have good eyes out there tomorrow, and he knows my rifle better than I do, so he helped me tune the sh*t outta it today....

I'm planning on drivin' tacks past 400 tomorrow.... :D ...I know that with the loads I'm slingin', my MPBR is around 300 yds.....but I had my rig dialed in pretty friggin' tight all the way to the 650 marker this afternoon.....

Today's prelim went well.....if I can shoot the same sets, I'll do fine tomorrow.....we're supposed to have weather tomorrow, but I' looking at it as a nice challenge :D .......I'll also be helping keep score for Dam's pistol qual......

    Update:

Dam' scored 40/40 @ 50...40/40 @ 100...40/40 @ 200...40/40 @ 400.....(prone, kneeling, sitting, standing)...and from the nods I saw from the judges, he probably aced the practicals, too.....they'll most likely award him "Expert" for rifle, come certification time....

I'll have to brag on my spotting, though, even if it was a perfectly calm, 73 degree day :D .....I'll spend tomorrow's class time setting up my rig and shooting a preliminary round.....

    Final week of school....

This week we lay the smack down on practical exams....today we received our scoring logs, qualifying ammo, and preparatory instruction manuals....

Scoring will be based on knowledge of qualifying weapons, accuracy, quality of weapon maintenance, method and speed of target acquisition, tactical efficiency and stealth....

I test Thursday on rifle and Saturday for pistol.....

Damocles tests tomorrow on rifle and Thursday for pistol.....I don't even know why they're testing the bastard....He's already shown up every instructor we have......the guy's a FREAK!
