Living in some place like New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, etc, if the bomb dropped even just an EMP life would definitely be a miserable event. Life expectancy would be in weeks if that long.

I'm originally from western MD. A member of the local Ham Radio Club bought a house built in the 1960s. It had a real family sized bomb shelter and it had water inside.
