Haven't had a chance to do a project like this yet but for the amount of money you're talking investing you might want to talk to a pro. Might want to call up the folks at Atlas Shelters. They are to use top notch gear and it's items that are milspec, not homemade like other companies.
I don't know but maybe they would consult for you and be a source for the equipment? If you're just building for a storm shelter the design can be simple in comparison to if you are building for NBC protection. So depending on your expectation you might need to be fluid with your design ideas.
From what I've read and seen, stay away from Rising S bunkers as they seem to be fly by night with many unhappy customers who had bunkers flood plus they do stupid things like put on demand gas hot water heaters in them. Can you say BOOM? I'm sure there are other competent sources out there but I'd find a pro to guide you on the engineering of it so you don't end up with an unusable tomb under your house.

Bunker Build
Hello all, this is my first post and yes I plan to search this site for info related to my needs, but I would like to jump in and get opinions and ideas on what I am looking to do. I will be building a new home in N. Ga. within 2-3 years and would like to incorporate a safe room/bunker into the build as this will be new construction and it only makes sense to do this during the excavation and foundation work. I would like to have a bunker built adjacent to the subfloor/basement with an access door. I have my ideas in my mind but not sure how to handle ventilation as the roof of the room will be under dirt. I have searched the net for weeks but all of the different ideas get confusing. The whole thing will be poured concrete. Has anyone on here done something similar?
