it's such a simple concept and device you are basically turning a stator manually it should be cheap or cheap to build... you could prob but your bike on a stand and rig a stator to it somehow

My plan is to use a planetary drive from a small car axel connect it to a gear box or other system to a genny all of which will be turned by animal power!

Here is another one but again pricey.

According to this article http://epmediagroup.com/features/190...o-human-dynamo each bike generates 50 Watts at full power.

Hydro power is fairly simple, you can use the same basic design to make a wind turbine or even hook it to a bicycle. All you need are magnets to rotate near some copper wiring, also if you run electricity through those wires they will rotate the magnets making a simple electric motor. I found a decent link for hydro power. Also a fun link from thinkgeek.com of a water powered clock, it pulls electrons from any liquid to power the clock. Also I figured I'd put a link to pacwind.net cuz I like their product even though it's not hydro or self powered.

There is this one, but be prepared for sticker shock.

Here is a dude that will show you how to build one.

He sounds like one of these rather strange "nutty" enviro types, but he is also kind of creative.Last edited by Rustyshakelford; 09-18-2008, 06:41 PM.

Self Powered Generators
I think one of the most important things you can have in your gear is a self powered generator, non reliant on fuel, or even sun for that matter. It is the ultimate no fail power generator.
So far I have found this unit

if you find different or better ones let me know, i'm surprised there are not more of them out there.
Also looking for cheap hydro generators, would be great constant power source if you could set up next to a creek or river.
Addition: Found this too
