I have a Leatherman wave and it seems to hold up good.And I also got the tool Big Saw posted for Christmas(except it has the claw hammer not the hatchet),lol,haven,t tried it yet.

Ran in to a pawn shop couple weeks ago in fayettvile and picked up one leather titanium charge and 3 new waves for 120.00 out the door. I still have the 3 waves but i sold the charge. Look in pawn shops they sale them for almost nothing.

I have had a Winchester for a couple of years now. I have been meaning to buy either a Leatherman or a Gerber but figured with one that worked I didnt really need to replace it with one that runs 40 to 50 bucks.

This past Tuesday I purchased an Otis M16/M4 cleaning kit for $20. It had the flexible cleaning rod, the teflon infused oil, a small flashlight with attachable bore light, and BEST of all it included a Gerber multi tool!!!

I have a few leathermans and the wave is my favorite. But for the money, the best thing to do is look for a used leatherman at your local flea market. I got a newish leatherman in perfect shape at the flea market last weekend for 10 bucks

I have the original leatherman, great quality, the handles edge problem was solved on the later designs, I also have the leatherman Wave, great tool and the Gerber is also excellent cant go wrong with either of those.

I'm not usually one for gimmicks, but my wife says she's seen this before, and thought it might have potential....I'm gonna order one and see if I can break it...lol...:D

I stand by the Leatherman, Victorinox, and the Winchester. The Leatherman is the best in quality (as attested by the fact that I've lost three and they've never been returned.) Victorinox, as manufacturer of the original Swiss Army Knife, can never go without mention, it is fantastic too.

The Winchester is good on price, though its attachments don't move as smooth as the Leatherman.

I really like the Leathermans as well. I had a gerber and broke mine doing the same thing that kenno did, swore me off of Gerbers for awhile...

I got a real deal on a Swiss Army Multi Tool. Wire cutter is the best I have seen... the wood saw is the best as well... the file sucks big time and is my ONLY negative about this tool. I got it for $45 and it was going for $100 :eek: at the time...

I have an original Leatherman, still works good but it has a design flaw
that cuts into your hand if you try to use the needlenose pliers with any significant force.

The Gerber is ok... except the bottle cap opener doesn't actuallly open a bottle and you have to use the pliers.

I would either go with the leatherman TTI or the SOG powerlock EOD 2.0 with V back cutter in black oxide. I have the SOG and it has all the tools you need plus the EOD tools but the big thing for me is the compound leverage pliers. I beat the hell out of this tool and it has yet to let me down, plus it is black how cool is that.:rolleyes:

I have an original Leatherman and a old Gerber. The leatherman is very compact and I like that but those stamped handles really cut into my hand when I am working with barbed wire. On the Gerber I broke the plier jaws first time I tried to cut barbed wire, got a new one for free with differnt plier jaws but that kind of soured me!
I bought a pair of ex-Brit army folding wire cutters, about 18" long, not compact but does cut wire!

18" long cutters..... must be for Moose wire, maybe for #4 wire. :D I had a nice pair of lineman cable cutters until one of my Sons borrowed them. Sometimes I think we should not of had boys. LOL:)
