I've owned one boot knife in my life and never carried it in my boot. I tried once and it galled my leg up so bad it sucked.
    Nice knife BTW.

Yours has a much better edge than mine. Mine is more of a novelty than anything else.

here's mine, never had to use it, but did carry it when I delivered pizza in college.

My first real knife purchase was this mk-1.

I have this knife also, it's been with me for years and it is still on my LBE now.

I had a Gerber mk-1 while stationed on Guam. I lost it exploring some caves on the Naval Magazine. Lesson learned - not to have a knife attached to my web gear upside down.

Yes, the sheath on the MK-1 is pale in comparison to todays designs. Mine has a basic leather tag with a snap to hold it in place. Mine has fell open on several occasions, luckily it was never lost. I would like to make a Kydex sheath for it soon. After that instructional video was posted; it looks relativley easy to do so.

I carry the 5.11 rescue boot knife. I've been carrying it now for about two years on the job. It worked very well for me for cutting safety harnesses on a crashed helicopter that I responded too. I have also added a 550 cord touch to it.
