  • Awesome rough use knife for $10.00

I got one of these a few months ago and I've been very impressed. It makes a great general purpose work or survival blade, and for $10.00, it's hard to beat. Be warned, it's a heavy knife and not the best choice as a weapon.

How thick is the blade on that one?

Not sure on the thickness, but it's much thicker than I thought it would be. It'll take down smaller saplings easy. The grip is rubber and adsorbs impact well when "hacking" at thicker brush.
I'll put a Mic on it tonight, and post measurements.

I saw in one of the reviews that it's 3/16".

3/16 is right. As for the tang, there is no butt piece or pommel, as it is all rubber, similar to some dive knives that I've seen. Like a dive knife, it is also very "blade heavy"There is a grommet inserted for attaching a lanyard or such. The grip is very solid, and weight distribution indicates that there is a full or at least 3/4 tang. I only got it after reading all of the reviews on the website. For $10.00 I thought I might get a flea market knife, but was hoping to be surprised, What I got was a heavy good quality parkerized blade with a decent nylon sheath.
It's no KA-BAR, but then again, it's not supposed to be.

you see how the point end is wider than the handle end of the blade? this knife is made for rear attack throat slitting. it's a fine weapon.

Cheap Blade but Well Worth It

That blade believe it or not is actually made by Cold Steel and that is one great knife shop. I could not believe it when I found out about it. I got one just like it from the Cold Steel site last fall maybe October. It is full tang with a ridged rubber handle that provides nice grip.
It is based on the famous Kukri Knife though it is not supposed to be a replica in any sense of the word. It is a nice weapon and if you are strong enough it is actually a pretty good fighting blade. If you are able you can increase the effectiness of it by grinding the back edge of the point into an edge for about two inches. That way your back swing could do something besides crushing damage and that is why the blade is heavy. If you hit someones arm with the back of the blade on a downswing that arm will most likely be broken.
Here is the link for the site where you can buy the Cold Steel version.

Damn can't get the link to do right. Well just copy/paste it guys.

The ad states that it has a rubber handle over a full tang.

                    Nice!

I just couldn't resist myself and ordered one while getting some gear for my AR. I have to say I am impressed. Good weight and sturdy feel. It came out of the box far far too dull for my liking so I will be going nuts on it this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't mean any disrespect, the blade is a bolo design. It is designed for hacking and chopping, like through a jungle or making a lean to. Not saying that it could not be used as a weapon, but that is not it original purpose.

I ordered one last night, and intend on taking it camping a couple of times this month. I will try to give a "heads up" on how it performs.

I'm sure that it would lop off just about anything you took a fancy to swinging at.:D Truth be told, it's really too "blade heavy" to make a good fighting knife. I love it as a camp or bush knife though.
