  • Don't get over overwhelmed.

Don’t' get overwhelmed by what you read on how other people prep. I know when I started I sure did. Everyone needs to prep to their own level of comfort and by what you can afford. I think even if you have endless amounts of money there still will be some scenario or detail that will get overlooked. Each person or family's preps are going to be different with factors like geography, population and threat levels. In my area I don't worry much about floods or tornados. I am more worried about blizzards and ice storms and economic crash. I worry that people will read others descriptions of their hardened, off grid, remote bunkers loaded with food, ammo and weapons enough for years and they will become discouraged and give up. Even just the some basic supplies, knowledge and common sense can make a big difference in the out come of your event. There is no one way to prep. What people need to do is take what you learn and form it to fit your needs. Most importantly don't give up.

Excellent advice! I think this is one of the basic "rules" of prepping, doing a "What am I preparing FOR..."

We don't much have to worry about blizzards or tornados. We have to worry about financial/societal collapse, extended heat waves, lack of water, and zombies coming over the border armed with weapons our FedGov gave them.

I think advising people to start with the basics is the best way to go. water food shelter etc. and remember you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time.

Examiner.com is the go-to source for millions of people who want to know what's happening in their city. And we're still growing!
