  • Stock up Now!

Glenn Beck has been saying for a long time to stock up on food. Okay. He's Mormon, they believe you should always have a year supply for your family, I wondered if it was coming from those roots.

    BUT.

The folks at NIA are recommending stocking up on food.

We listened to XM Talk radio while driving to and from Arkansas this last week and I heard two other commentators recommending stocking food.

Last week three of the financial people I read recommended stocking up on food.

Isn't it good to be ahead of the curve?! Scary times are coming.

I said something like that to Skyowl and he said, "You knew this was coming, otherwise why all that food in the pantry?" I told him that suspecting it was coming and KNOWING are very different.

As Glenn Beck says, being prepared means you don't have to be scared.

Hello from Arkansas, I waved as you came through but you didn,t,LOL
Look at it this way, if you stock up on food ect., and nothing happens, then you have food avilable if the prices go up or down.
If the SHTF, you have food set back for it. I see a win/win situation either way!

      I waved!

Skyowl wouldn't stop for me to water the sign at exit 30 on I-30. :(

We had a great visit with our daughter's family. We didn't do the turkey thing, Daughter wanted Mom's tacos for TG dinner - go figure. We cooked venison until I could shred it, seasoned it like my tacos and that was dinner.

That was a first, venison tacos. We all loved them, though, so I did something right.

Cooked it with salt, pepper and garlic until shreddable, very little liquid left. Shredded it and then more garlic, salt, pepper, added chili powder (Hatch chilis), a can of tomato sauce, cumin, onions, and a can of water and re-simmered it down.

If we'd been at home, I'd have used home-canned stewed tomatoes instead of the sauce. If you want measurements, I can try. I do it by taste and experience, so have never measured the stuff.

Soft fried the corn tortillas, put grated cheese, chilies, black olives, chopped onions, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce and salsa on the table. Forgot the Owl's sour cream  but he forgave me.

We are hoping we have more time. I only have about 2 maybe 3 months of food stocked up thus far. I thought I was doing good since I just started about 3 months ago. LOL! I guess I will be doubling up on my efforts. Keep us posted. Also, what would everyone think (is it even possible) to have a thread that is kept empty, maybe titled emergency. That way, if someone gets wind of something, it can be posted there. We can all subscribe to that thread only to go straight to texts. IF one person finds out a SHTF situation, then we can all find out asap. Even at 2 am, my phone wakes me up with that text alert. Just a thought.
