My currently favorite field knife is the Cold Steel True flight thrower. It is a spearpoint with a cord wrapped handle. 1050 carbon steel made to put up with the abuse of throwing. It came quite sharp and holds an edge very well. At around $20 I am willing to use and abuse it.

I think I sourced these from an outdoors company on Ebay. You can google "jetscream whistle" and find many sources. I've only seen them for sale locally at Gander Mountain.

Thanks! I found them. We have a Gander Mountain here as well. I may check with them, before paying shipping prices.

My newest piece of gear is the Eberlestock G4 Operator pack. It's a little on the heavy side at 10#, but wears VERY comfortably! It's in the dry earth color and will carry a large rifle or swallow a smaller one. It has numerous pockets for the guy who likes to be organized and plenty of webbing. My back does sweat a little with it, but far less then any other pack I've owned. Believe it or not you hardly feel any weight on your shoulder at all, it's focused on your hips where it should be. The torso length is adjustable and the waist belt can be removed. The load lifter straps work like they are supposed to and you would never know there is hardly any padding in the shoulder straps. It's a very comfortable pack to shoot a bow or rifle with. This thing is built like a tank and I would definately recommend it to a friend.

Thanks Diesel, but keep in mind that a pack should always be tried on with some weight in it. I had to order mine on-line, but the place I ordered it from has been very good to me with this. I have sent other packs back that didn't feel right and had no issues as long as the pack wasn't abused and still had all the tags on it.

I would also stay away fron their hunting packs. I say this because anything I have owned from them in the hunting line that had pals webbing started to rip out at the webbing when attaching things. The tactical line which the G4 Operator is from doesn't have this problem because the webbing is attached to heavier material. Just wanted to let you know.

If you want to know who to order from PM me and I'll let you know. They do free shipping, offer a free item and are good people to work with from my experience. I would tell you who it is on here, but don't know if that's allowed.

Let's just say I own alot of packs, have tested alot of packs, and made alot of packs fail lol. I probably have 15+ right now with gear in them ;) Been meaning to add an Eberlestock to the collection.

My goto packs lately have been Mystery Ranch

I'm going to start posting some of my gear, hopefully I won't get blackballed by you guys :p

Imagine that, I love the Mystery Ranch packs myself. I have a Bighorn right now and I'm looking at a new one in the near future. The next one will have the Nice Frame for sure. I have plans for that!

That said, I've tried the "pack axe" before...
I know this one is a bit older post but I've had one of these for years and love it. Estwing makes the finest tools and are made in the USA and I believe warranted for life. They're the only hammer I used when I made my living swinging one; well that is after I busted a few chearer ones - handles, claws, and heads chipped etc in only a few months. I finally spent the money and never had another issue, I still have them all in my tool box.
Estwing Sportsman Axe I love mine! keeps an edge, easy to sharpen and I like the balance.

I've been thinking about adding one or both of these to my kit but I want to hold one in my hand before I buy. Having problems finding stores that actually have them in stock.

I might also look at getting one of their roofer or drywaller hatchets to modify for use as a tomahawk.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you!

I've got one of these I carry every day and I love it. Kershaw 1620 They only issue I just recently had was the little slide lock that holds the blade closed broke. A message via their website and 2 days later I got 2 baggies with 2 new locks and screws. Zero cost! Blade is like a razor. I got mine at a gun show from a guy that's always there but I've moved about 8 hrs away. He had these for $20 and kick my butt I only bought one. I wanted to get some more to give as gifts and can't find them for less than around $40 plus S&H.

                          I highly recommend!!

Thanks Collector. We don't have a Home Depot close by but next time I'm over at it or I pass one I'll stop in. Appreciate the heads up.
