I bought a Beeman break open .17 caliber pellet gun about 3 months ago. I threw away the box and papers when we were doing some cleaning so I can't give you a model #. This piece of crap supposedly fired pellets at 1000 fps, that would be sufficient for anything smaller than a coyote at short range. The bad thing was it shot a 4" group at 10 feet. So for this gun to be effective I have to get within 3 feet of my target, if the first shot fails to kill I can stab it with a makeshift bayonet.
Can anyone reccomend a good one?

I got 1 a couple of weeks ago. Cuts like a real chainsaw just not as fast without the noise and exhaust fumes. I reccomend it.

nakadnu, I have a Gamo with a scope, it came with tru-glo style sights and is deadly accurate and reliable in all weather conditions. 1,000 fps with standard pellets, 1,200 with the copper pellets. Suffice to say, there are fewer woodchucks in my garden this year than last.

I will most likely be buying a gamo in the near future. I have heard good things about them.

WOW!!!! Touchy subject. All prepping and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I would like to think we could discuss other things on this site and maybe learn something different. It doesn't all have to be about Doomsday stuff.

How To Grow Lots Of Food In A Grid Down Situation Even If You Have No Experience, Are Older, And Out Of Shape.

As of 10pm Central tonight, this sight went missing (along with my $31.58 for their DVD).

I know it's a slim chance, but does anybody know of these folks? They're site seemed very legit, and the video was to be on gardening and homesteading. I am bummed that the DVD never showed up. Raised a dispute with CC company tonight.

                      Anybody?

Apparently you didn't read the title of the thread before you clicked on it . If you want to discuss defense ,food or shelter you need to find one of the many threads that is on those topics. The only one complaining is you ,this thread is passing along good information about more than Wal-Mart merchandise. There is a red button in the upper right hand corner,it has an X in the center of it ,if you don't like the thread click the button and find a subject that suits you but don't come on here talking down to everyone like we're a bunch of idiots that can't determine the quality of an item. As far as I'm concerned your post is nothing but a waste of cyberspace.-got it ???

I would be cautious about painting with so broad a brush. Retailers would have many vendors of variable quality. (Many Chinese, if politics interest you). It is important to examine the construction and manufacturing details before you buy. I have a number of LLBean Duffle bags purchased in last 5 years. Two have been on many excursions including asia and africa more than once and are in great condition. The last purchased looked subtlly different and apparently is from a different vendor. It had a major seam give way on a brief European trip this spring. LLBean is replacing it. I blame the orig manufacturer.

I'll start us off with a doozy:

Stay away from ANY outdoor backpack sold by WalMart stores if you're gonna be using it more than twice.....ever.....the first time they get even a little damp, they start to unravel, and even a pretty light load will start to pull the seams apart after a coupla dozen miles...and don't even think about traipsing through the scrub with one...they absolutely cannot handle abrasion....they'll tear like toilet paper.....even at around $25, it's a waste of money....

On a side note, I think it's important to avoid heresay...let's keep it to sh*t we've actually wasted OUR OWN MONEY on...not just someone else's opinion....
