i too am geared toward combat,though i do in deed include about fifty seed packs heirloom of course and two of the small miracle grow bags double ziplocked of course.i also have standard utensils as well as about two hundred foot of paracord 40 lb and 80 lb rope as well as 150 ft foot of climbing rope. i think that is enuff detail on the content's my reason for the rope is i built a make shift cabin as a kid and it is still standing fifteen and counting the only other item i will mention ismy fishing gear when in the south FISH

Here in Western Montana the most likely emergency is being caught in a blizzard and forced to spend a night in your car. Although I always carry a gun, food, water and a way to keep warm will go farther in this situation.

The BoB's purpose, for me, is to keep me warm, watered, fed and alive until I can do it outside the bag.....so I'm shifting mine more toward combat and shelter/survival and further away from bulk foodstuffs and luxuries.....more of a LRRP setup....]

At your leisure explain the LRRP configuration if you would .... I know what a LRRP is .....

[if I'm buggin' out, I need to travel lighter and well-heeled for a fight and/or uber-camping trip....]

My second line gear setup is to keep me nourished and sheltered while tactically mobile for 3-5 days. My BOB is for my transformation to a refugee / nomadic lifestyle in the event I'm unable to defend my homestead any longer ..... and its fairly hefty.

Sure....a LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) configuration consists of basically a 35/65 split....35% of gear being tactical, and 65% being support oriented....an example might be as follows:

Tactical-
*Main battle rifle w/ammo loadout...
*Sidearm w/loadout...
*Backup sidearm w/loadout...
*Field utility knife...
*Tactical/combat knife...
*Optics...
*Portable comm device...
*Flashlight...
*Maps/compass/timepiece...
*Firearm and blade maint. kit...

Support-
*Fire implement...
*Bivy tent/shelter...
*Sleeping kit (bag, bedroll, liner, tarp, etc)...
*Medical/hygiene kit...
*Water kit (canteen/bladder & purification implement)...
*Rope and cord...
*Spare/cold weather clothing...
*Emergency rations...
*Cook/Mess kit...
*Snare kit...
*Entrenching tool...
*Machete/Axe...
*Field manual (edible plants, etc.)...
*Fishing kit...

This is really all an individual would need for and extended march anywhere in the continental U.S., provided one could harvest game with reasonable skill and consistency....people lived with a helluva lot less for centuries....

New Arrangement for Me

I recently replaced the old sturdy and reliable large alice pack with a larger better and newer pack that has a lower compartment for my sleeping bag and bivvy bag.

I have mainly support items in my pack. There are 3 packs of mainstay bars, 2 MREs, Heirloom seeds, an Army Medic guice book, and printed in size 8 ariel font a list on 15 pages(front and back) of various thing s that I myself have never tried but do know work in survival situations.

So in conclusion i guess I am 30/70 combat to support ratio. I might be mocked for what I am about to write but oh well:rolleyes:. I have 4 weapons with me. A Glock 17 and a Hi-Point 9mm carbine( because they use the same round makes ammo situation easier. My Mosin Nagant just is too long and heavy and use that messed up round that aint exactly easy to find,) I have box of hollow points to use with the carbine. I also have in my pack a Ruger 10-22 w/500 rounds. And another older beat up Glock 17 for replacement parts/replacement gun in case something happens to my newer one.

I realize the carbine is not the best thing to hunt with but it will do. As for personal protection? Well I think that over 95%, at a minimum, of people will leave you alone when you start shooting at them, whther you actually hit them or not.

Now IF I can get out with warning I will definitely bring a bettter long gun than my Hi-point carbine. I have put over 2k rounds throuhg the carbine and never any issues so I know it is decent little gun.

Sounds like a well-thought load to me.....and it sounds like your carbine might be a factory freak ;) .......the one thing I actually do like about the Hi-point is the 9mm platform....if I could find a decent one other than the HP, I'd probably be very interested, seeing that I am a 9mm pistol fan.....

I will admit that though I have a deep ingrained disdain for anything HP, there are always a few exceptions which seem to perform far and beyond the general rule....so I, for one, won't be mocking you one bit.....:D

cb i think that is a wonderfull load out bag and weapons choice for two reasons you took the lesser of the two evils being the hp i agree fully and you are using the same ammo very smart thinking great job

In the long run the most important thing you can have in your "bag" is dirt. If you don't have any you are going to be a refugee. How much ammo can you carry? How much water? How much food? If you think after a worst case scenario, you are going to camp out for a few days, then move in and occupy land and loot Walmart, think again. I read on this forum about someone buying a $90.00 knife. I have some blades worth more than that, but I don't plan on looking at them while I starve, and wish I'd bought food.

While your comments have merit, I think I should at least qualify those who lean more toward combat and hunting than foodstuffs....

Those of us fortunate enough to have obtained "dirt" for a BoL or have the ability to cache goods might be better served by a more tactical load-out than others.....especially folks (me) in rural AOs....whereas city folk might have a harder time finding the space or opportunity to cache or plan set BoLs within a reasonably close proximity....

You gotta admit....the city's nice, but us country boys have alot more elbow room.... ;)

No prob....even in the event that no cache was reachable, or BoL for that matter....a sufficiently skilled and practiced survivalist could literally start over with the bare-bones basics such as these, while scavenging for resources, or even joining forces...which we will have to do eventually, in order to beat back the tide of tyranny....

In a bed box, inside the shell, in the bed I have too much stuff to really list but does include a sleeping bag, tent, cooking supplies, water, MREs (a lot), more first aid, auto repair, an LBE with butpack, a small backpack and a lot more; even a change of clothes and such.
