I don't think you ever feel prepared enough. I have been preparing for decades, and still always find something else that could be stocked, changed or improved.

When you say "really soon", what do you mean? Week, month, year, decade?

I understand how you feel. I have the same feeling. I just don't see how we can keep going the way we are...it's like living in a pressure cooker.

Like you I have good days and bad days. I think man I am ready for any thing then I look at my list of thing I need to do, get or set up and I freak that I am not ready. I have to paint my house, barn and out buildings so I was going to buy pro grade paint sprayer but then I thought boy if I do it by hand I would have more money for the new generator I need ( ok want ). Because who really cares if my house has brush marks if the grid goes down:D

I agree Brosia. Like HerbalPagan stated, its like living in a pressure cooker. I still haven't found work after being layed off in April. I still prepare but the $$$ is starting to run low. So many uncertainties that sometimes I wonder if even trying to survive is worth it to me. however I think of my children and trudge along another day if only for them. This country is sure getting the 'Change' they voted for - in a bad bad way - but there is NO HOPE. I read the posts here daily for support and the knowledge that there are others out there feeling the impending doom upon us. I have been having to find reasons to carry on daily. Some days I am just numb of it all.

Now...don't you fell just a tad silly askin this question? The answer of course is ....OF COURSE ..... Brosia, take a long pause and about a dozen really deep breaths. We are organic creatures that have adapted to our environment. Now our environment is changing at such a rate we are all in a borderline panic.... this is how critters become extinct by the way ...we being the supposedly more intelligent of all the kingdoms will improvise, adapt and overcome. Yes, as soon as we think we have one particular problem solved someone on the internet post another possible concern. The collapse of the almighty dollar .... China calling in the debt ...... Russian subs observed off our coasts ....strategically placed nuclear devices within our borders .... NIBIRU / planet X ....polar shifting .... the list is endless. You .... we have done just about everything in our power to ensure we enjoy some level of comfort while we struggle through this anticipated, undefined "transition". Make your peace with God or a diety of your choosing and continue with your life. Regardless of what takes place, should it be your destiny, physical pain last for a very brief period ... often there is no pain .... and then we're on the other side. Don't fear and NEVER surrender.

I have been fighting the sinking feeling that I am not fully prepared myself. one way that I have combatted this is I am beginning to plan several small trips locally here to take my daughter on camping and teach her to pack and hike and build a fire on her own. We are also taking a little friend of hers from school so it fun and not just a Dad scaring her on how to survive in the backcountry. I am trying to show her something every day or so that he may need one day without preaching doom and gloom to her. It does give me some quality time with my only daughter that is more important than anything!!! I have to be a little covert because my wife thinks I am crazy and is dead set against any type of preparations. Very sad !!

I've been feeling a little uneasy as well. Politically, the current admin sure isn't making me feel all warm and fuzzy, and I don't think it's going to turn around anytime soon. But for me I think that much of my unrest is due to the coming season changes. For many of us, the winter months are not the optimal time for the bottom to fall out. The added tasks of heating the home, along with a garden that is dormant for at least 4 to 5 months, occupies a few more brain cells this time of year. I'm in central North Carolina, where winters are mild. We may see 17 degrees every once in a while and maybe some ice, nothing compared to our members in the northern states, or even my prep bro's in the western part of NC, but it's still something to contend with.

Brosia, I too, feel that "I'm not ready" anxiety on a regular basis. There are just so many 'signs' that things are growing worse, (no matter what the media is saying!) I try to stay focused on continuing to prep, but there are still so many things on the 'to do' list. Agree with the others that we all need to just do the best we can with our present resources, and trust in our faith as well. It also really helps to have a supportive spouse I can use as a sounding board... helps ease the panic when it sets in. Subman, I give you credit for carrying on and teaching your daughter in spite of the wife's lack of support. Hang in there everyone!

                        Good Grief!

after reading several posts here lately, I.E. "chineese flag to be raised over the White Huose" , "troops at Ft.Lee practicing house to house searches". Yes my feathers are ruffled! This is America, Damn it! Is there anything else these bastards won't try? For the love of God this is not the same country I grew up in.

                          Friends,

I have to tell you that I feel the worry, I have a full family and I have lots of somethings and nothing of the others I need. My wife lives her life not wanting to know because she doesn't cope well with the thoughts of living in a new sort of "Matrix". My kids are small and I often drift off to the days of when it was just me, able to pack all that I owned into the back of a car or jeep and I was offically off the map. The reality is just this, collectively we are all innovative and resourceful people, we will ponder relocating, or we will, we may all have to engage situations we could have never imagined...even with the help of this site. We all have to remember that being prepared is a broad based statement, it's a statement that is never accurate because we will never be prepared for THAT situation. THAT situation is the one that we didn't think of, we plan for no government, no power, no readily available food, harsh winters...the list goes on. Like one of our fellow SHTF preparers he has shown us that he was not prepared for a fire, hell, I'm not prepared for a fire. As reality, time and the well doing of some, he has begun rebuilding. We cannot dwell on all that we don't yet have because the way I see it, we find ourselves wasting time and stressing on hoarding when we can learn how to make use of what we currently have and how we can go to places and get even more out of what we have. I was once shown how to live for a period of time with a poncho, poncho liner, twine and a sweet Swiss Army Knife. I'm not survivorman but with good training and the confidence that my current situation was not forever, I completed my taskings.

The money to get more things will come, the cash for more primers will come, powder for reloads will show up again, but until then, I have to learn to maximize the use of what I currently own.

                          Best wishes and happy preparations.

                          NP
