  • Perfect Gift for my DGI friends

:D I found the perfect gift for my DGI friends/family this year...

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/a396/

This tin is packed with survival goodies

Sardines come packed in metal tins and even though they are a good source of omega 3 fatty acids, they are still oily and kind of funky smelling. No offense to any fans out there but we feel the metal tins could be put to much better use.

Here we have a genuine air-tight, waterproof, crushproof sardine can packed full of 25 survival items. Go fish with the hook and line, find your way home with the compass, boil water in the can for your tea and sugar, use the first aid supplies to survive the wilderness. Since being well prepared is half the challenge, you'll have a good head start with this kit. Put one in your car, boat, motorcycle, fishing vest, backpack, bike, emergency kit, etc.

The kit includes one of each of the following items: non-aspirin pain reliever, adhesive bandage, alcohol prep pad, antibiotic ointment, book of matches, compass, chewing gum, sugar, salt, energy nugget, duct tape, fire starter cube, first aid instructions, fish hook & line, note paper, pencil, razor blade, safety pin, reflective signal surface, tea bag, waterproof bag, whistle, and wire clip.

I grew up with a grandfather who loved canned sardines, kippered herring and smoked muscles or clams. We would eat them with hard tack or sea biscuits or crackers for breakfast, lunch or dinner. As a kid I hated them but he would always say you never know when you next meal will come or if it will come so always eat what is put in front of you. Now that I am all growed up I love them and can eat the any time. Though I still have to force my self to drink the oil that they are packed in the way he did, he savored it like a fine wine.:) There is so much I wish I could thank him for.:(

I like the thought of this as a gift

I may buy a few of these as gift for those friends that as stated earlier (DGI). If I can attach a roll of caps and an ye olde tyme cap pistol to their gift I will hopefully give them the keys to their survival and safety when TSHTF. They can use the cap gun to scare off any hordes of unprepared scavengers...at least until they run dry on the cap rolls.

As for the sardines, I am like Omega Man (awesome movie I watched on the 4:30 movie on TV in the 70's) I grew up turning up my nose to them, the clams, the mussles and lots of other canned, oil stored foods...I enjoy them to this day with my father, still. I'm going to buy my fare share of as many long shelf life foods as I can, and I will enjoy them.

Omega Man...Charlston Heston was the ONLY man that was able to pull of the neckerchief...to this day he is a bad ass...God rest his Soul.

[I am like Omega Man (awesome movie I watched on the 4:30 movie on TV in the 70's)]

And there's the feeble attempt at a re-make...."I am Legend"
                  O.W.

I viewed the original release of Omega Man in a theater and was like WOW!
I watched it recently thru NetFlex, with all the extra features, not really that impressed. That's what old age does to you I guess!
Actually I am Legand is the 3rd edition of "I am Legend" if you count "Last man On Earth" 4th if you count "Last Woman On Earth"
BUT as a Gift item or as a fall-back OMG item, that be great. Now where is the tiny 44 mag?
                    PS WHAT DOES DGI MEAN?
                    'Don't Get It' ?
The road to serfdom is paved with free electric golf carts.
