    Are you freezing beans that are already roasted? We have what i figure to be a several month supply of beans in the freezer.
    To really ensure yourself of a long term supply of java, the answer is to buy the beans raw. The beans will store for years just as other staple items will. You will then roast small amounts of beans on an as needed basis. I assume that the roasting process is something to get familiar with before a crisis. My wife and I arent so dedicated to coffee as to go that length:)
    I wish i could source that excellent article on coffee storage...sry.

          Welcome to the New America;
          Keep these things in mind: When you cannot run; You walk. When you cannot walk; You Crawl. When you cannot crawl; You find someone to carry you, or carry another, but you never give-up.
          Welcome to the New America.
          It is not dollars or price tags that make men free, or enslaves them. It is oppression. The oppression of free speech/ faith/ commerce/travel/ association/and defense that squashes freedom.
          It is not honest labour that oppresses but labour under the perjury of graft and taxes that enslaves. All taxes, fees and leves are a yoke upon freedom. There are PPL that will never be brain surgons, I am one of them, but I want the best brain surgeon in the hospital, not a person that got the job because they were 'other thasn white'. Should my life be decided by the woman that got the job because of her gene, not her qualifications? And what about Transgenderisms?
          A surgoen thats not comffy with YOUR GENDER?

              for those in the Greenville, SC area that are new to the preparedness for WTSHTF who are considering a centerfire rifle- Wallyworld in Simpsonville has an abundant amount of .243. they also have plenty of 7mm Rem Mag, but i wouldn't suggest it to the firearms novice. The caliber of .243 can take large game in our neck of the woods, but also can be used for medium size game in our area.

                To cope with the ammo shortage... I bought a new handgun in a caliber that is easy to find. OK, I really just wanted it.

                I got a FN FiveSeveN. Bought 500 rounds of ss192 in person, ordered another 1000 of ss192 and 4000 ss197sr

                not bad when ammo is scarce. I'll take it to 10,000 rounds when my next cash inflow comes.

                  cwconnertx, i noticed that due to the recent increases in 556costs/availability- 556 finally surpassed 5.7x28 in cost per round. I came close to buying a FiveSeven several times, but then i thought the last thing i needed was yet another caliber to stockpile. NOW, when and if this madness ends and other manufacturers join FN in weapons and ammunition production- then i might pick one up. But i still find it a measure of discipline to not buy a FiveSeven or PS90 every time i walk into my dealer's business.

                    The AR uppers in 5.7 with a 16" barrel would make a handy varmint/home defense carbine loaded with the polymer tip round.

                          I like the weapon as a survival weapon for the same reasons a 22LR is desirable. You can carry a lot of ammo easily, it is good for hunting small game.

                          But it also has advantages. One is the level of power is much higher that a 22LR so it is a little better for defense. The range is also better and it shoots flatter.

                            I am working on getting one with an 11 barrel for use on my SBR registered AR lowers, that is when I get the paperwork back.

                            The rounds is optimized for an 11 inch barrel, nothing longer helps with velocity, but does keep you legal if you aren't going SBR

                              I picked up 2 packages of Quick Clot today at a gun show. One was the older 'heated' version and the more expensive 'No Heat' version which was twice the cost at $45 versus $20. I had balked at these before, but figured it wouldn't hurt (no pun intended) to pick a couple up to add to my med kits. Both packages had a use by date of September of 2013.
