  • To cold for this sleeping bag

Many many many moons ago just before we got married me and the wife went camping and her sleeping bag was rated for maybe +50 and the zipper was broke:eek:
    heres what I did
laid out my poncho, placed the bag on it, laid a blanket on top, wrapped the poncho over and snapped it together, placed a waterproof bag at the feet.
It was an Easter weekend and it got into the 20s that night, man that thing was warm.
PS all of you stay out of my grandsons toys

Looks like a good improvisation....ever tried the Swiss military wool blankets? They're about 4 times thicker and heavier than US issue...got one from SG.com and been waiting for them to get some more so I can stock up....best blanket ever for around twenty bucks....

Nope...actually smelled like freshly washed laundry....I'm pretty selective about what I get from SG.....some of their stuff is practically "novelty".....

Agreed....people need to meak sure they're getting decent stuff....I usually call before placing my order and make someone read me all pertinent info about any item I'm going to order...if i can't get an english speaking person on the phone to do so, I shop elsewhere....

Shortly before Desert Storm I was in 29 Palms, Cali for desert training and at night it would get down to about 10 degrees F. We always had our poncho liners in the sleeping bag and WP bags over our feet. We also usually had whatever clothing we had on top of us too. After the first freezing night of running to the head we all kept empty quart gatorade bottles next to the cots too. Maybe to much info???
