Those are really neat!
Your link mentioned how many kinds of fuel that can be used. Whereas most believe commercially available lamp oil. The Romans used terracotta lamps as fuel they used olive oil or other kinds of oil extracted from vegetables.
We have a few antique cut glass type oil lamps.
None of ours have a lamp shade just a base, metal burner, a glass chimney and a wick. As they are old, no safety devices are present.
Your link was really informative, thanks!!!

That was interesting as he linked the history of it all together.
Once oil lamps used whale oil as fuel which left people against whale hunting in the dark. It also meant no corsets for women which were made from baleen.
Many years ago candles were made from animal fat or tallow or whale fat. Again some people were left in the dark unlike us knuckle draggers type who made candles and ate the animal's meat.
It appears many of today's people would have been out of the picture back then..

Ask them where does food come from and they'll answer from the grocery store, where else?
