What?! No march on Washington? No protest? No revolution?
There are two types of revolutions; the violent, external kind and the subtle, powerful, internal kind. Glenn Beck asks us for the harder of the two.
He has issued a challenge. About six months from the 3-13 date is 9-12. By then, we each should have done something that reflects a deeper commitment to the values and principles upon which we are founded.
How will you do it? Will you be more honest, friendly, thrifty, or courageous? How? Will you take a stand for the principles? In what way?
Get a community. It can be a handful of friends, or family. Talk about the values and principles. Make a pledge - a promise among trusted loved ones - that you will do SOMETHING (specific) in the next six months to live closer to your ideal. Make yourself accountable to those friends. Use networks, such as this forum, to find out how others are doing. Be active in your communities. Post up here your ideas and make a difference now.
I don't know how many people watched Glenn, and it doesn't matter. I believe in the power of ONE. ONE makes the difference. YOU make the difference. What will you do in these next six months? Will you help a neighbor, lead a movement, stand up where you wouldn't before? Will you be more honest, hopeful, persistant?
I know we are all preparing for what things may come, but I believe that every opportunity that we have to influence the what, when, and how must be taken advantage of. Our nation is in trouble. Will you simply prepare to take care of yourself, or will you stand and make a difference, no matter how small? Think about it.
We each have a different calling, a different road. Find your voice. Find your purpose.
9-12
The Nine Principles (If we share at least seven of these, we are on the same sheet of music and you are not alone)
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
12 Values
Honesty
Reverence
Hope
Thrift
Humility
Charity
Sincerity
Moderation
Hard Work
Courage
Personal Responsibility
Friendship
The 9-12 is as Beck put them down. It is a lot to take in, but from the posts I read on here daily, I know most of you live these already.
