  • 3 Items to help make life easier when TSHTF

    1. Baking soda
    2. Bleach
    3. Vinegar

Will they nourish you? Not directly. Will they help fight disease and infection? Absolutely. Will they make life a little easier? Most definitely.

Not only is baking soda used for cooking, its great for putting out fires, cleansing both the body and household, and can be used for irritations like bug bites, bee stings, poison oak, blisters, etc.

Bleach will sanitize water and cutting boards where fresh meat has been process. 2 teaspoons to 5 gallons of water will help sterilize water before its filtered, as well as after.

Vinegar is a preservative for foods, will deter ants and fleas, remove skunk odor, polish chrome, soothe a bug bite or bee sting, relieve sunburn pain, treat sinus infections, help aches and pains of arthritis, soften laundry (especially with hard water or soap), freshen wilted vegetables, unclog a drain.....

I like both those lists, although I will swap out copenhagen for whiskey.

Seriously, putting out fires is something people should keep in mind. A breakdown of social services includes the fire department. I have personally added several small fire extinguishers to my house as well as a couple of large heavy duty models and am thinking of expanding that.

In the event of civil unrest, fire is a serious danger.

Good point, knowledge to make something is better than storing it.

Now, how to make cope... how does tobacco grow in your area?

I guess it depends on whether we include things we already have which 3 I would pick.
I have a lot of supplies but would love to have a better supply of fuel, food, and alcohol (drinking and fuel)

Mdog, notice I didnt say NECESSITIES, I said to make life easier. Everybody thinks about fuel and ammo and more fuel and ammo, but they kinda forget about the little day to day things that will make life a little better, like not getting sick from contaminated water, being able to sterilize food storage or preparation areas, and with cutting all that wood, you know somebody is gonna get into some poison oak somewhere.... My daddy almost died from poison oak. he was on steroids and anti-inflammatories because it got into his bloodstream, even in his eyes. He looked as if someone literally had poured acid all over his body...
