RICHFL: Sounds like you want to be an Arab Oil Sheik!!! LOL. Count me in. I'm right with you. We all dream about hitting the big one, and it is really fun to dream. Even counting the way I would split it, it is a staggering number of zeroes. I can't even think in numbers that big.
To get back to the original post it is hard to say what luxuries we would miss the most. I'm sure there would be quite a few. Like the old Joanie Mitchell song: " You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone." Off the top of my head I would think personal hygiene would be the most difficult. Taking a hot shower every day is like breathing air. Hard to imagine going back 100 years in that regard.

Applejack, I know you tried to use the "Ignore" feature here, and you said it didn't work...
Try one more time, but pay special attention to the last several lines of this method that I posted for Sourdough in his "Troll" thread:
Click onto your name at the top far right side of the forum's page.
Toggle the drop-down menu to find the "User Settings."
Click on "User Settings." When you get there, you will see four options to choose from:
Click on "Account." Scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page. You will see:
To block certain users' posts, enter their names into the ignore list. To remove users from the ignore list, click the 'x' button.
BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES by clicking onto the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page, on the far right side.
Then "refresh" your browser by clicking onto the little semi-circle at the top of your browser page (or else leave the site and come back).
AHHH! It will be like the trash took itself out of the house, and the air will smell great again!
If enough people did this trick, trolls will eventually get bored and leave.Last edited by GrizzlyetteAdams; 10-14-2018, 03:52 PM.

I want to win the lottery if so here is my wake up call. Playboy bunny comes and open drapes in my 110 story penthouse. She has coffee, printouts of e-mails from people far and wide. She departs to get dressed. Then her and the cook bring in my breakfast. Something different every day.
I get up use exercise bike for 20 minutes then into the shower where bunny #2 is waiting to wash me down. Then to the soak tub (Discovered this in Japan), up dry off and get dressed.
Maid #1 ready in waiting room with additional list of people who want to see me.
I want to win the 655 million Mega jackpot then hit the 315 million power ball. With that much money you have joined the Trump club!!!!!!!
Why would you not want to spend all that money? You cannot take it with you or do you want the government to get the rest?????
Just having fun!!!!

Mostly on post #1 on this has some things to think about. What are we willing to give up for the sake of having the things that we must have to survive? Coffee will be a luxury. So will a lot of other things. It is true we will be giving up many things we are used to having. How many things do you have, eat or drink that you feel you must have now that in a SHTF situation are you going to have to give up? Will you be able to give up the luxtury items you have now. These are good points. Though Big_Saw is funny. But it is the first post Rossa bought up that got my attention. It will make you think about what preps in both food and other things are the most important for survival. It also makes you think about how much water like for coffee and even tea it will take to make these things. Just something to think about. Bathing, well we won't be taking a daily bath any longer so need to have ways to at least keep ourselves clean. And yes baby wipes are not just for babies. Dry shampoo is another one I can think of where water would be an issue. No water required to washing your hair with a dry shampoo. I bought a can of it that I am going to try out just to see how well it does. Though my hair is not oily, I don't know how it will do for people with oily hair. These are things we all need to find out now about.

Bathing will become an issue due to the lack of rinse water necessary. About 12 or so years ago, my father lived with his wife and step-daughter on a small parcel of land. They hauled 1-gallon plastic milk jugs 1 mile (in a truck, of course). Their bathing was a half-gallon of heated water separated into 2 containers. One container was used for soapy water, the other was to rinse.
When they were done with their "bath", the soapy water was used to water plants or clean non-food oriented items. The rinse water was kept to make the next "soapy water" container.

If you don't want to waste water on showering daily, stock up on baby wipes. they will help you stay a little cleaner.

I just recently had lasik done on my eyes. It's well
worth the time and investment. I was back at it taking
care of myself and my 23 critters the same day.
No more reaching for glasses.
