  • Gear buckles

Anyone know of a good place to buy replacement buckles for backpacks and gear. I have 4 7100ci backpacks for BOBs but i'm not happy with the plastic buckles that came on them. A few of them broke during use with the Scout troop so i would like to replace them with metal.

Most outfitter's stores in our area carry a bunch of 'em. Kayak/canoe stores do too.

I believe there are some very heavy duty high quality milspec type buckles out there, i'd only get something like that as a replacement

That type of closure is known as a Fastex buckle (may be a brand name though). You can find different grades of them for cheap at a sewing supply type store, like Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics. My fiance modifies my tactical gear with store-bought ones and the nicer ones have held up great through lots of abuse.

When I need these buckles I go to my nearest thrift store and buy old backpacks or bags and get all I want and really cheap. my .02 cents
