  • Others Misery, Our Gain!!

As many of you may or may not know, I live in an oil town. When oil pukes, many folks are laid off. It has been happening. Now, oil people usually make 100K a year, but manage their money poorly. With all the lay offs, the pawn shops are bursting with stuff. I am not the kind of guy who relishes others misery, and I feel bad when times are bad, but if I can buy some consumer items cheaply, I might as well pounce. Today I hit the pawn shops and bought these items. There are 2 Leatherman tools and one that is similiar but is made by Stanley tools. The top item is something called The Ultimate Spork, and is unbreakable and fire resistant. The middle item is a deck of cards. I paid $15.00 for the whole lot. What I am stressing here is, you can take advantage of others poor money management in bad times. I am not taking food out of their mouths, but am buying stuff they should not have bought in the first place. Good Hunting!!

This is my second great find at the hock shops today. These are .38/357/30 carbine cases from Midway. They usually sell for around $7.00 or so each. I got 17 of them for $15.00!! Man was I lucky on this one.

If anyone needs some let me know. You pay the shipping and I will give some of them away. I have 2 lots of 4. I think shipping would be around $10.00 for 4 of them. I would like to give 2 lots of 4 to diffent folks so I can spread them around to anyone reloading. Xcolony members only. Just let me know and I will ship them, and you can send me $10.00 when you get em.

Those are great deals you got! You can never have too many multi-tools! Those cases are great as well, unfortunately I have no use for them!

          Rusty,

Great items. Here's something to feel good about while polishing your fine new tools: People who pee and moan about "profiting off of the misery of others" never consider that if the previous owners couldn't use the items, but could use money more, what good are you doing the owners by not buying their goods?

While there are, of course, always relatively "better" or "more fair" deals, there is no exploitation wherever there is a willing consenting adult buyer and a willing consenting adult seller. Never let a bunch of Marxist/Socialist/Liberation Theologian types guilt-trip you from benefiting yourself and benefiting others as well via peaceful, voluntary trade.

It still does not take from the fact that I feel for folks in need. I try to help folks in need whenever I can, as long as I know I am not supporting some bad habit, or some goofy cause.

It's real simple. If you don't buy it someone else will.
Good for you Rusty. You got some bargains and they don't come by that often.

BTW they are laying off here in Okieville too! When oil prices drop Oil Companies sound just like Welfare Queens. " Why that ain't worth my time" LOL

I have a nephew that works the fields. Lil' Bastar* takes home 1200 a week and he's broke before payday.
