Ontario SP1 Survival Kit

I had an old one thrown together, but I decided to make this one a little better.

Attached to the sheath is double sided heavy duty Velcro.
It stays on the sheath well. Inside the top pouch I have;

• Mini multi tool with LED flashlight
• Light my fire firesteel
• A good amount of maya dust (shaved fatwood) mixed with some dryer lint.

In the bottom pouch I have a snus tin filled with;

• US Army trip wire for snares or whatever I want
• Button compass
• 10 water purifier tablets
• a nail with a lot of fishing line around it
• a strip of paper with 6 fishing hooks taped to it
• a small bobber
• 3 fishing weights
• a good portion of tinfoil folded

Also around the sheath is a good amount of some 550 cord, a ranger band, and a small shapener.

Nice set up....I'm looking for one of the Kydex sheaths with the side slots for straps....I intend to do something similar....

Yes, the kydex sheath would be nice.

The only real reason I'm looking for a kydex sheath....is for the fall factor. I saw a guy fall from a horse and something hit the pummel of his knife....it pierced the leather sheath....and just about nailed his femoral artery.

I know how "fluke" that was....but I just like the plastic for that reason....go figure.

@Echo, ah yes that's a great reason for the kydex. Never would of thought about that. Thanks.

I love my SP-10, but the sheath had to go for 3 reasons.

*I feel kydex offers better protection in regards to safety as Echo2 mentioned.

*I don't like any material that can hold moisture against any blade material especially carbon steel.

*Finally, with kydex you have numerous ways of wearing it or attaching it to things and/or attaching things to the sheath.

Here is a picture below of my kydex sheath made by Bruce at redhillsheathes.com, I have numerous attachment methods as an option, a nice drain hole at the bottom and one of the options to wearing it is a drop leg system.
