MSR...capable of 3 liters per min.....but you gotta be superman to do it....also best start out with coffee filtered water first...that's what the float is for.....I generally have a couple coffee filters in the bag....I'm not sure when I used them. The filter is cleaned by running the pump backwards in clean water....it only takes a few pumps to clean.

I've made two filters based on this guy's design http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8VQk4isaOM you can get the activated charcoal at a pet supply .... it's used in fish tanks. My approach is to filter out the big chunks, chlorinate, then charcoal filter to taste.

I got one of these. I have used it a bit around the house. Me, the wife, and oldest boy enjoy a nice glass of ditch water now and then.

I use this all the time. It makes tap water taste good.

I keep my Katadyn Hiker or Steripen, along with some coffee filters (pre filter if needed) in my pack when hiking and camping. A couple of SS bottles for carrying.

For long term bugin situations I have nearby lakes in the neighborhood and one (so far) rain barrel.

The 12ga.... It's not just for rabbits anymore.
