I do alot of work with my hands and ever since the "mechanics glove" introduction, I have been onboard. These things have been a 'hand saver' and when I don't wear them, I get my hands scraped or poked:o
Most of the big 'tactical gear makers' have all types of whiz/bang cool gloves... and well they work great! But... so do the much cheaper Mechanix Gloves like they sell @ Lowe's and Home Depot. So other than the subdued colors, go with the cheaper ones... They also ALL wear out the same (about 6 months of daily wear) If you are gonna send some to your buddies that are deployed, keep that in mind.
So why am I bringing this up??? Well gloves, make an excellent addition to your BOB. If you screw up your hands, holding stuff hurts. So you may want to be proactive and keep them in pristine condition as long as you can... You may want to get some a little heavier duty ones designed for rappelling if you plan on using that method
