My .02 .... Great opportunity to prepare them for the real deal Prkchp .... no lanterns, candles. No stove, shovel for Dakota hole. No tent, machete/knife for debris hut/wiki. This might help lighten the load .... campin can be fun AND educational.
Went camping over on Stone Mountain NC a few weeks ago. This was tent camping with the family and involved very little bush craft if any. Started hiking off of the marked trails, just to try to get lost and came across the remains of a debris hut. Kinda cool to see that people are out building these things and not just watching them being built on youtube.
would love to do this BUT they are a buncha six year olds we are actually teaching the older ones how to make the lean to and the banjo outta the back woods man
