I just picked up a 5.11 tactical light. It doesn't have batteries it uses capacitors to hold power and light the LEDs. It came with a 12 volt charger and a house adapter. Gets about an hour of light at full power and 2 hours on low. It also has a strobe setting for self defense or signaling. Recharges in 90 seconds!

I just got it Friday and set it up last night. The instructions said to let it charge for 24 hours so the caps can equalize or something. Tonight I will test it against my other tactical lights and my maglites for performance and battery life.
The price is a little high at $140 but it doesn't use batteries and can stay on the charger all the time and not hurt performance.
I'll let you guys know how it compares to the other lights I have.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. This light has been the best flash light I have ever used. Super bright and has survived falls from an 8 ft ladder on concrete and still works without a scratch. With the 90 second recharge time it works out good when I take a break for a drink or bathroom I drop it in the charger and 90 seconds later it is ready for 2 hours continuous use. I also have noticed that I can not use it for weeks and it still runs at full power.
Great buy! I'm getting 2 more, one for the house and one for the BOB.

There are different sizes. The uniform store I got mine from had 3 different ones anyway. I just did a google search for "light for life 5.11" and got a ton of results back. The box and sales descriptions all say an hour at full brightness and 15 minutes on high, but I get an hour on high and about 2 hours on normal. I didn't time it on strobe but it should be longer than that.
