  • NEW LEATHERMAN CHARGE TTi

Just picked up the new LM tti and have to say its pretty sweet very impressed with it. Although it does not have the changeable saw blades my surge has but the light weight makes up for it. Threw it in my LM Charge in the car for everyday use until I work up the nerve to beat up the new tti. The new tti has a s30v knife that i cant wait to tear up. Hopefully it will be easier to sharpen than i have been reading in other forums.

Have you given this bad boy some useage yet? I prefer the Leatherman as part of my everyday carryon, and I am feeling an upgrade because I lost the large phillips/slotted bit driver. I like the features of the TTI. Gimme some thoughts! :)

I have given it some good usage. I am very pleased with the quality of this model compared to other models. The weight alone makes it worth it to get. I can remember my last leatherman weighing down my pants and i could always feel it. I keep forgetting I have the TTi on me when i wear it. all of the tools have held up well even though i have used the screwdriver as a pry bar for a paint can. the crimps in the pliers are great and come in use often. the TTi is by far the best leatherman i have seen and i have owned almost every single model except the new skeletools. I swear it seems like even the tools have a better quality metal but i cant confirm that. If you plan to use the thing often or everyday use i would get the TTI over the wave and surge. but if your buying it for the glovebox or tackle box. it might not be the most reasonably priced for that application. this would be a perfect for your everyday carry replacement i say buy it. if you just lost the bit you can always just order a new bit they sell them separately, but it would be an upgrade you will be very happy with. just my 2 cents

Fantastic! I'm really feeling the upgrade. I have 3 old worn, beat to hell gerbers that I keep in random places. I think the Surge will stay in the truck as a good back up. Does the Charge have the leather storage pouch? I lost 2 Gerbers because the nylon eventually wore a hole right through the bottom... Thank you for the update!

I have a buddy that just got out of the service and he was telling me he must have gone through at least half a dozen gerbers in two years and that is just not acceptable. He switched to leatherman and never looked back. the charge does come with the Nylon sheath but you can always order any sheath you would like. I found this site selling the gift set which comes with all the cool clips and stuff for 108$ which is a lot cheaper than buying it from REI like i did. I think the gift set is the best way to go everything that comes with it are worth it. I really like the pocket clip and lanyard loops are about as cool as it gets. post and let us all know how you like the charge if you end up getting one. Also when you pull it out in front of other leatherman guys be prepared to talk about it everyone asks me "what model that is that?" or "nice leatherman how do you like the titanium?"

Wow that's a pretty good deal compared to other sites I have looked at. I'll have to check their website to see about ordering a leather sheath. Or I guess I could use the sheath from my Surge, and swap. The leather sheath for my Surge has a smaller compartment in the inside rear seperated with a band of elastic material... I assume it's for a bit kit or sharpening stone. I keep a magnesium fire starter in mine. I really like that aspect of the leather sheath.
I hear you on the Gerber to leatherman switch. I have owned 5 Gerbers in about 10 years. All but one of them was replaced due to failure of one part or another, or from wearing a hole in the bottom of the sheath, going to grab it and finding it gonzo. I'm definately a Leatherman dude now. I'm a contractor so I am engaged in a multitool conversation just about once a week or more. It's a big battle of comparison between the Leatherman, the Gerber, the SOG, and all the cheapo-depot ones left over lol.

Thank you for the info and link!
