  • Looking for an Information Storage System

OK I am looking to get a new or used system for storing works documents, various pics, and such.

What I am asking about is this .... any sugestions as to what type i should get. The smaller the better.

Should I get one of the new small bok puters? Maybe a Blackberry? I want to be able to store in it probably about 1gig of info. More would be ideal. Also needs to be able to be recharged in a SHTF situation. I have a universal solar and a universal crank charger for a cell phone. Plan on getting one of the solar battery chargers.

Ok I sit here waiting with bated breath for all of your answers to my delima.

Just for something else to look at, i have 2 firelite smartdisks and 1 uses a firewire and the other 1 uses a usb cable. I got mine used last year and they work fine but the usb one is probably better for like a windows PC because the puter powers the smartdisk. This is a small external harddrive so you would still need a computer and this might not be what you're looking for.

I personally recommend getting a netbook. You can get yourself a DIY mini-solar panel that you can plug the thing into to charge the battery. And you are set.

Look online for Netbook just google it. They are really small light weight and run on linux.
The gui for linux is fairly easy to run. Besides linux tends to be a lot more secure than Windows and cost well.. nothing but time. Also google DIY solar panel.

You'd be set. I don't recommend an E-Reader or an iPod type thing because the netbook is a laptop it gives you more function.

        Just my 2 pennies.

Yea Proffet lugging around a PC isn't exactly my idea of portable.

Hey revisualize I dont care about net access in anyway shape or form so net security is a moot point. I was thinking about getting one of the netbooks but if I can get a Blackberry or some such with enough storage capacity then i would prefer it. Size, weight, ease of rechargability would be reasons for not using the netbook/small laptops. I also don't need more than 2 or 3 gig of data storage and that is why I am looking at Blackberry sized things.
