Mike that is an excellent train of thought!!! That is one of the meanings of survival. You may find that you want to several stands of the cord and braid something useful from it. This way it can serve as a way to also store cord for an emergency. I have seen rifle slings that were braided from a single strand so that it could be used for an emergency.

I use para cord for my boot laces. I use it for all of them from my Danners to my work boots. I got tired of the shoe laces breaking and stretching.

Just took it apart and got 48 pieces 20 ft. long = 960 feet. I am the only wage earner in our family and daughter will be going to college in 2 years so I have to do the best I can with what I have. Never believed in wasting anything either.

you can just melt it with a lighter. i wouldent reuse the paracord because it so cheap to replace. 100ft for around 8-9 dollars

well it's not really too bad with paracord because the nylon sheath keeps itself pretty intact

But you can burn the end, suggest a mini lighter type torch.

melt the end then press it down on something

another method is to melt the end and then samwich it in a piece of cardboard and pull the line out of the cardboard, will give you more of a pointed/bullet type end on it

I was given a out of service parachute. It has hundreds of feet of paracord which i plan on recycling. My question is what is the best way to cut this stuff so it dosn't unravel? Burn it or is there some other way since burning each end would be rather time consuming?
