I did a search here and didn't find anything in the past.
Is anyone here into sprouting?
I believe it is something that should strongly be considered for any survival situation. My fiance and I have been trying different methods for a couple years and her agri supplier now carries a wider variety of seeds, so we are diversifying our supply and experimenting with new varieties of plants (Plants? Veggies? Sprouts? Not sure what the proper term would be).
For those who are unfamiliar, sprouting (in a survival sense) is growing fast-maturing, nutrient-rich plants indoors or outdoors, any time of the year. You can get a starter kit for under $20 at a decent gardening supply shop. Some of the varieties of seeds available include different species of beans, broccoli, and common cooking and healing herbs. Some mature in as little as ten days or so, while others take up to about two months. While you can probably not live on sprouts alone, it is an excellent and healthy way to supplement your diet-- best of all, you do not have to wait long to have edible plants!
