If someone were interested, I would be willing to meet whomever has this for sale and get it packed up and shipped for you. No charge of course. Unless this man/woman would ship it for you. The price seems fair. I would love to own it, but my wife will not let me use a device with the potential to blow the house to smitherines. Go figure.

These old pressure canners are enticing but dangerous. The pop-off valves don't work very well. It would make a nice door stop for your shop.
That's why they started using the little black ones on the Presto Canners. Even those should be replaced every few years because the steam causes them to lose their flexibility. Of course you know as long as it's hissing like a Texas Rattle Snake it's ok. When the hissing stops it will bite you big time. :)

Mom never blew anything up, but I am a little more accident prone.
I'm interested in a pressure canner, it's next on my list, but I can purchase a new one (with updated controls) for the same amount of money.
I've never set my backyard on fire or anything like someone else we know, but I'm a bit accident prone myself (I managed to blow a hole through my toe using a pressure washer) so I think getting a modern, fail-safe contraption is in my best interests.

But the modern ones take the expectation of an explosion out of the equation. Wheres the fun in that?

Where did you find the modern one? Or at least where would I look?
We bought ours at Walmart. You can use the pressure cooker for canning, or just use a big pot of boiling water. The pressure cooker is just faster.
Two books you need to check out. This one is all canning: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2077626
