  • Water!!!!!!

OMG...If you are going to store purchased water, only buy distilled...we all know that, but did you know....your tap water is crap!

I live rural, but am still, through some miracle of modern engineering, on city water. Over the past few weeks, it's become more and more like pool water. And tonight it tastes like straight Six-Flags slide lube.

    BOIL IT!

    IODIZE IT!

    FILTER IT!

Do freaking something...I have a boil and filter order in effect for my house from now on...I can't believe we, as a nation, have allowed our water to be so chemically trashed by so-called "purification methods".

    Eeeeew!

Sounds like that little plumbing do-it-yourself project you did, went wrong. Remember, the drain pipe from the toilet does NOT hook into the line to the faucet that leads to the sink. Just a little suggestion.

Would probably taste better than the super-chlorinated crap coming out of my tap right now....

Rusty and Big Saw, you guys crack me up.

Big Saw, you are NOT supposed to drink the water on the Six flags slide lube, you do know that, right?

Supposedly our water here is the among the best in the nation, but sometimes it does smell "off." And definitely has a chlorinated smell.

The thing that eats me up is, I called the water dept. and they said that there was nothing they could do but come and charge me $600.00 to test what's coming out of my tap!!!!

I explained to the utility-nazi on the phone that all of my neighbors have the same prob, and it was obviously a water dept. issue.....denied, of course.

When I stated that my water seemed to get profoundly worse overnight, she decided that I was a nut and dismissed me entirely, and proceeded to transfer me to another agent.

This new agent said that they had switched to some new-and-improved super-concentrated treatment system, and was glad to hear feedback. I politely informed him that if this was a permanent improvement, I would consider opening a water park on my property, since the chlorine levels probably meet or exceed guidelines set forth by Six Flags.

Anywayz...They've received about 1200 calls today, and have decided to go ahead and test our taps for free.

              Will update.....

BTW...now filling tea jugs from toilet...marked improvement in quality of taste...thanks, Rusty.

I use to work for a company that installed and repaired water lines, mains, feeders and services. You would be suprised by the amount of scum and sediment that builds up in waterlines. I live in rural area so we have a deep drilled well and two natural springs, 1 is potable the other is good for irrigation. But like a big dummy I sold our generator to buy a bigger one but have not and during the ice storm we had 3 weeks ago we lost power for a week. No power = no well pump ie. no water in the house. I did have drinking water stored so we were good there but had to flush toilets with water hauled through the snow from the spring. I am looking into a solar panel set to run our well pump in the long term. I do filter our well water but it is just for sediment. Oh yea I had a point if I had to use town or city water I would use a reverse osmosis filter system, they are one of the best systems out there and they will fit under most sinks.

We've actually got a local radio guy here who ranted pretty good about the water dept issue....the call boards were flooded and he might have been the reason why our water has suddenly and inexplicably returned to its previously tasty yuminess...;)
