  • Food to go.

In our mud room we keep a plastic tote loaded with food and supplies ready to go. Any time we go out for the day in the car we take this kit with us plus a small soft cooler. This kit was not designed for bugging out but definitely could be used in an emergency. We keep it loaded with quick and easy food. For hardware it has paper plates and cups, plastic knives, forks, spoons, 2 paring knives, small cutting board, small pot with lid, MSR Supper fly stove, paper towels and hand wipes. For food we keep it loaded with power bars, hard candy, drink mix, instant coffee, tea, hot coco, powdered creamer, spam, canned chicken, canned tuna, salmon pouches, box of crackers, rice cakes, single serving packs of peanut butter, jelly, honey, mayo, mustard, hot sauce, salt, pepper, canned mixed nuts, trail mix, dried fruit, Velveeta cheese, instant soup mix packets, kippers in sauce, juice packs and fruit leathers, bottled water and then we toss in bread or rolls when we leave. Now I know it seems like a lot but it is packed in the box like Tetris so it all fits. By having always packed and ready to go you don’t even have to think about it. Now any of you who have kids know that it is 20 minutes in to the trip and you start getting “I’m hungry” so instead of having to go to fast food or a gas station we can eat on the fly or pull over and have a picnic. We found this save us a ton of money on road trips and it takes no effort. We keep emergency food hidden in our vehicles anyway but that is only for emergencies. By doing this it gets you in the practice of having supplies packed and ready to go.

I do the same type thing but mine is setup for a bug out if I have to. So mine is mainly dehydrated and Mrs, freeze dried stuff and peanut butter.

          Lots of quick and easy stuff....snacks....drink mixes....soups...deviled ham....crackers...peanut butter.....ravioli.....etc

Coleman stove....plates and flatware...can openers and such....a chow box.

always have a few flats of bottled water to toss in there with....

Great idea! We keep one handy for hiking, or if I plan ahead for camping, I will keep it "separate" from our pantry food. It would do us good to have it more handy, seeing how we stop for fast food way too much! Its unhealthy, and the "dollar menu" adds up for a family of 6! Thanks
