We get the Spam singles, at Wally World for under a buck. So, one of those, fried, with tomato and mayo, lettuce, little cheddar or swiss, fried egg on toasted bread is pretty tasty, and inexpensive. We can split one, be full, and have gotten plenty of protein.
Also, if you have not tried the Spam Bacon, I suggest doing so. It is fantastic. Again, I purchased @ Wally World, for around $2.30 a can. Makes enough for 6 sandwhiches. Not too bad. Try Spam in Ramen. drain most of the water though. And cook the spam, seperately.
Yeah, I never would have tried Spam if it wasnt for the old man. He introduced me early, when we were dating, when it was too impolite to say "no thanks".. lol.. hooked every since.. High in sodium, yep- yummy, yep!If the zombies chase us, Im tripping you!!!

You can sub rice for the noodles.....maybe add some peas or broccoli....minced onion....
if you do the rice.....add one egg and 1/2 cup of flour in to the mix and bake....yum.Live like you'll die tomorrow, learn like you'll live forever.

Take a bit of brown sugar, about a half cup, and mix in prepared mustard until it's sludgy.
We slice the SPAM thinly and fry one side. Turn over and slather your sludge on the up side, finish frying the back side.
The mustard and brown sugar carmelize and make a yummy sweet-sour sauce.
Depending upon how thinly you slice the SPAM, it can be almost crispy. We like it that way."If Howdy Doody runs against him, I'm voting for the puppet." - SkyOwl's Wife, 2012

Another of our faves, we call this Mac-a-Treet because the original recipe called for Treet. We've expanded the recipe, the writer of the original wouldn't recognize it.
Can of SPAM, cubed, fried. Again, we like it crunchy-fried, gives more body to the finished glop.
Cook and prepare a box of macaroni and cheese. Drain a can of veggies, discard liquid, and then pour them into the M&C when it's done. Mixed veggies make a pretty dish, but we like green beans in ours. Pour a can of stewed tomatoes into it, only drain about half the liquid before dumping in. Add the cooked SPAM and mix it all up. Add pepper.
WARNING: This is truly camp food, with the M&C and tomatoes, it's not particularly beautiful, but it is SURE good with bread and butter."If Howdy Doody runs against him, I'm voting for the puppet." - SkyOwl's Wife, 2012
