We too made the Ziplock purchases and after trying them out on several food items, we are pleased with the performance of this system.
Damn I sound like the guy on the Six O'clock news. LOL

Alas, but no. S.C. Johnson is a privately held company. If it were publically traded, I would have bought a few hundred shares based soley upon this product.

I actually tried this on some food while I was home. I put the remainder of my Danish Havarti cheese in the bag and removed the air. Oops. I removed too much air. The cheese smashed itself into the bag to the point where a spoon is in order to eat it. Darn it!! $11.00 a lb cheese turned to mush. I guess I will have to make a cheese sauce with it. This little "incident" proved to me how good this little pump it. I am going to buy a 3rd pump and some additional bags and put them into my BOB.

Worse case scenario, you are out less then $5.00. The bag I sealed that had the .22's in was as stiff as a board after removing the air. The bags are thick, and the best part is, they are reusable. :D

Being out of town, and bored, I hit the local Wal-Mart. I hate Walmart, but it was the only place open today. I bought another one of the pumps. On sale for the low, low price of only $1.50. Not bad!! I got some .22 shells for $1.28 a 50 and sealed them up. Once again, this hand pump worked better then any expensive electric pump I have ever owned. I am impressed again!

Just an update. My skivies are dry after soaking the whole thing in water over night.

I just used it. You are correct, the price is right. I put a pair of my skivvies in the bag and removed the air until everything turned stiff. I am going to dunk this in the bathtub to see if it works. I like that the bags are usable over and over again. I had the pump the hell out of the pump to get it to take out all the air, but overall it was simple. If my tighty whities (blue in this case) are dry in the morning I will have considered this a good product. I think I paid less then $10.00 for all the stuff in the original photo. It does say that it will not seal soups or wet items.

I also put some 7.62 x 39 ammo into a bag. WOW!!! This thing removes air better then any expensive machine I have ever owned, and the price is fantastic. I give this 2 thumbs up!!

I picked mine up today also, bought the same exact extra bags, too. Not a bad price, at Target the pump was 3.79, I think as were the extra bags. Probably could find it a tad cheaper at Walmart.

I used it for the leftover frozen french fries. We didn't make the whole bag, and if I were to leave them in the original packaging, they'd get freezer burnt. They've only been in the freezer in the ziplock bags for a few hours, so I can't tell you how well they work yet

The bags were easy to use, the pump worked simply and easily. I want to try it out with dehydrated foods next. At the cheap price (and I'm sure you can get coupons too), I'll probably pick up a few extra to keep... the pump is simple pieces of plastic with a small rubber seal, I can't see it lasting too long. I'd also like to try it with plastic containers and glass jars, see how it works. I like the fact that it is hand-operated, no electricity, no batteries.

I actually found the bags and suction device while I was up in the cultural center of the universe, El Reno Oklahoma. I will try it out this week and report back!

started a topic Ziplock has a new system!

    Ziplock has a new system!

I saw an ad on the idiot box today stating that Ziplock is putting out bags with a hand pump sealer. Indeed!! I checked their website and they are advertising them. I will find this item in the next few days and report back!! Solves the problem of expensive 110v sealers, and bags. The 2 that I have do not work worth a darn. Maybe this will be a better option!!

Here is the site. Scroll through the top section and find the icon called Vacuum Bags and click on it. Looks pretty good to me!! Couldn't cost more then $10.00.
Working...
