  • Shelf Life Studies

I found these to be very good reading and were contrary to some information I had previously reviewed. The single most important factor is storage temperature. Enjoy.

Good link for the shelf life of MRE's. And yes temperature is the single most important factor when determining the shelf life of MRE's as well as any other food.

Here is an interesting article on expiration dates..I can't attest to the validity, but was a good read :)

I've read similar after asking similar questions along those lines. At any rate, I learned that the dates on most cans are not toss dates. This was a great tid bit of info to obtain. Helps my food stores tremendously! The dry (canned) food doing better than wet (canned) food got my attention. I have some Mountain House Freeze Dried stocks of food. The expiration date says 2035! :) Ya, that's me grinning. I think that's great! Thanks for the links and further reading!
