It looks like a reasonably good price for what you get but ................. I wonder about the taste and quality of food you would receive. But in a SHTF situation in a very short time frame without anything to eat , just about any thing will taste like Fillet Mignon.

Should have add: This would be for bug-out only... grab and go, aside from normal food reserves.
Back in the 1980's, when Jimmy Carter was Prez, my friend bought a year's worth of freeze dry for his family. He kept it for about 5 years or more then took it to a gun show and sold it piece meal for about 70% of what he paid for it, then he turned around and bought new freeze dry!
The road to serfdom is paved with free electric golf carts.
I think this is probably a good deal and an excellent start for a BOB. Quality may be an issue with the filter, multi-tool and as mentioned earlier flavor. Mountain House meals sell for around $8.00 for the 2 serving meals at Walmart. (1 serving = 1 cup usually) This source is selling essentially 28 freeze dried servings (lunch and dinner... Breakfast seems to be only oats and granola)
28 servings of Mountain House from Walmart would run you around $112.
A good water filter is going to cost at least $60.00 (This kit may or may not have a quality filter... I'm guessing not)
Fuel tab stove - $8.00
Multi tool - $12.00 to $25.00 for anything decent.
Handcrank radio/flashlight - $17.00
Water proof matches $3.00
Granola bars and oatmeal - $7.00
Back Pack - Anywhere from $20 to $100 depending on the quality you would want.
Total from Walmart - around $239 using Mountain House products, a good water filter, lowend multi-tool and a cheapo bag.
This kit $210 (including shipping) - Not a bad choice for someone who may not have the time or interest to build their own..
I choose to build my own simply because I like to pick and choose the individual items as well as purchase as I go, spreading the cost out over time.
