Heirloom seeds

Okay, stupid question, does anyone have any seeds they want to sell? I've been looking at them from online stores and heirlooms tend to be expensive

I know seeds degrade over time, would these last longer packed in the mylar? I mean, unlike food, I would be less likely to use these until modern seedlings/seeds were unavailable? 10 years possible?

Thanks hub for cleaning up that link for me. Sorry about that. The reason for the mylar is that it provides a protective layer to keep them viable,keeps out excess moisture and to help them last over time. I wouldn't be suprised if they did last for 10 years. That might be stretching it some tho.

Thanks pathfinder... interested to know what kind of yield you get compared to the normal hybrid fare... I planted an heirloom tomato, as well as the standard hybrid producers (better boy, parks, celebrity)... the hybrids, as expected, are outperforming the heirloom. Point being, if we ever need to rely on the heirlooms, we would need to adjust garden size for the possibility of the lesser yields of heirloom varieties.

I planted Peas, green beans and Squash from this #10, It is loaded with enough seed to plant a Basket Ball Court. 2001 pkg. The seeds are vacume sealed in a mylar type "film-foil" pkg with a paper side. I don't have that much space so I just planted what I could use. All of them came up and are doing well. I need to find out how to preserve some though when they start bearing.

Would assume so, there is a site selling an already-sealed-in-mylar-and-PVC group of seeds with an advertised shelf life of over a decade.

Thx, Unswydd. I was looking over my seeds yesterday and realized I have no Cumin or Coriander. Must fix that.
