You might sit her down and tell her all the stuff that's coming together that makes things look grim. You just want her safe. Do you have kids? Throw them into the safety net, women CANNOT not go along with safety for her children.

Tell her you want to be able to provide for her and protect her if:
    - This flu bug gets bigger (or any other bug)
    - You lose YOUR job (God forbid!)
    - When the food prices start to rise (this is starting already, it will get MUCH worse)
    - There's a terrorist attack that takes out your electric for a week or two (or longer), since the asshat is dismantling our protections

Tell her you'd sure like her help preparing, too. Women like to help their men, I don't care what the feminazi's say! And then don't make fun of her when she suggests something that you covered in your first preps, or when she suggests something totally "out there" - like stocking up on ice cream. Takes some educating, you can get a partner if you do it right!

My husband sometimes questions my purchases, but I've been honest with him about all the things that could go wrong, and he thinks of it as insurance.
Just explain about economic protection, natural disasters and such and I'm sure she;ll be fine with it.

    What to say...

The wife has started noticing the pantries filling up and my game room starting to get filled with cases and jugs of water and started asking why. Any suggestions on what to tell her to keep her from giving me that rolling eyes and "Are you insane?" speech?
Working...
